Experimental RPM Squid Packages for EL4/EL5
I posted on the squid-users mailing list and also CC'd the upstream developer in case he wasn't subscribed. He replied and updated his page on http://people.redhat.com/mnagy/squid/ You can follow the full conversation at http://marc.info/?t=122908476200005&r=1&w=2 Are there any plans for any other squid versions in CentOS plus? Any other repos/sources you know of with EL4/EL5

TinyCA2 on rpmforge EL4 but not EL5
I want to install TinyCA2 on my Centos5 setup. I had a real learning experience the last time around (last year, July) and in the end, I got the repo down from Dag's site and was cool. Now I am on Centos 5 and no TinyCA2. Can I just download the EL4 rpm from: http://apt.sw.be/redhat/el4/en/i386/dag/repodata/repoview/tinyca2-0-0.7.5-2.el4.rf.html and do a yum localinstall ? Or do I have

Dual boot with Windows 8.1, UEFI
(apologies for the length - there are questions at the end...) I've been running Linux for 20 years, and done a lot of dual-boots. I know that's old-school now, but I run Linux 95% of the time yet don't want to lose a Windows system I've paid for - but I've never tried removing it from a system and reinstalling the same licenced copy inside a virtual machine. I bought a

Repacking files on ext3?
I found this thread from a few months ago that seems to have been started by someone with the same problem I have, but it was not resolved: https://www.redhat.com/archives/ext3-users/2005-March/msg00000.html I have been trying to speed up my boot times and I notice that a lot of time is spent waiting on IO. Even with readahead-list precacheing files, it is reading at less than 1/4 of my

offline/local install of mongrel_service
I am trying to install mongrel_service 0.3.4 on a server that does not have any outside internet connection. It has ruby 1.8.6 and I have been installing gems by copying the source into ..\ruby\lib\ruby\gems\1.8\gems and then doing a gem install --local using the .gem file. I was able to find and install all the gem dependencies of mongrel_service through rubyforge except win32-service which

Problem starting Windows 11 EE
Hi, I configured a W11EE VM using virt-manager and joined it to my work domain. Everything was fine for a while. Later when I tried to reboot, I got the "Preparing Automatic Repair" message and when I selected "Startup Repair", I got the error "Startup repair couldn't repair your PC". I then went to command prompt, started 'diskpart' and ran "list

Install syslinux on GPT drive with Windows
I'm trying to make a drive that can boot with both UEFI and BIOS. I've built the drive successfully on my Linux machine, but can't get the drive to build with my Windows machine. The only step that's different right now, is that I use `extlinux --install /media/drive` to install with Linux, and `syslinux.exe --install d:` to install with Windows. In fact, I can prepare a drive with

Hi, what are the differences between postfix-2.2.10-1.1.el4.centos.mysql_pgsql.base.i386.rpm vs postfix-2.2.10-1.1.el4.centos.mysql_pgsql.plus.i386.rpm. Changelogs are the very same and there's no announcement. Thanks, David Hrb??

NTFS support?
Wow, wow, wow tell me my eyes are not deceiving me. This is so cool. I saw some stuff about NTFS so I tried an experiment I used window's diskpart to reformat my USB drive and create an ntfs partition. I used version 6.03 syslinux on the drive and created the syslinux directory and files and it booted. My os failed because of no ntfs driver (the Fedora 21 installer image) but it looks like

Curious sgdisk behavior
FYI Just found interesting behavior of sgdisk (it is used in daemon code for various things) which might surprise us: sgdisk won't work if it finds "valid" MBR and GPT partition tables on the disk. In this case sgdisk fails with "Invalid partition data!" message. How to reproduce (esiest way is to use DISPART command line tool in Windows but you can do the same via Disk

dovecot FC2 (0.99.14) to CentOS4 (0.99.11-8.EL4)
Hi, I have to move IMAP mail store from FC Dag's dovecot 0.99.14 to new Centos4 machine. Dovecot complains about corrupted indexes, Missing location field, Data position of record xxx points outside file etc. There's no 0.99.14 version for EL4 in rpmforge. Distribusion version is three steps down - 0.99.11. Any hints? Thanks a lot. David PS: I have rsynced all maildir Friday and today I

kbs-CentOS-Misc-Testing: thunderbird-1.5-2.el4.lsn looks OK under *light* use
Installed today, light use in and out. All looks normal ATM. CentOS 4.3 current (but 1 kernel version to install as of today). AMD Athlon 2200XP using i686 versions. I'm not a heavy user of it. <OT> Waiting to see if I like it better than Evolution or not. Unfortunately, the more it looks like MS Windows product, the less attractive I find it. I'll probably end up blowing all this

Hello list friends, I got the following error during yum update. How should I proceed to eliminate the probelm? (I thought perhaps to uninstall the .i386 package -- but there are some 15-20 other packages depending on it...) Repositories: dries, kbs-CentOS-Extras, update, rpmforge, base, addons, extras FWIW: the protectbase plugin was added on 2006-07-10. Thanks in advance, Itay

Guys, I'm migrating an internal Mediawiki over to a new CentOS 4 system. The old server's running FC3 and has a tarball install, ideally I want to stick to properly packaged software as far as possible.
