SUMMARY : Repair Filesystem prompt , after inode has illegal blocks ; qla2xxx message on reboot
hi All, thanks for the responses. After being dropped into the # Filesystem repair prompt, ( on account of "inode 27344909 has illegal blocks" ) following warm reboot (via "reboot") after finding (SAN ) filesystem in read-only mode yesterday morning (possibly because of HBA fault on SAN) , I ran fsck -r /data (Linux version 2.6.18-92.1.18.el5 , Red Hat 4.1.2-42 , ext3

Repair Filesystem prompt , after inode has illegal blocks
hi All, A fault on our SAN dropped us down to a read-only filesystem and after reboot, we have an "Unexpected Inconsistency" and I am being instructed by the boot to run fsck manually without -a or -p (this was after I think processing around 15% of the filesystem) The specific message is "inode 27344909 has illegal blocks" I recall running fsck some years ago on smaller

qla2xxx driver failed in dom0 - invalid opcode: 0000 [1] SMP
I wanted to post this in case there is a real bug here. The system this is on is running Debian Etch with the Xen packages from Debian Unstable (currently 3.0.2+hg9697-1). I am running all packaged software so this is probably slightly out of date. This is on an HP DL320 G4 with a Pentium D 930 processor. I tried unloading and reloading the qla2xxx module, but rmmod reported it in use, however

multipath using defaults rather than multipath.conf contents for some devices (?) - why ?
hi all We have a rh linux server connected to two HP SAN controllers, one an HSV200 (on the way out), the other an HSV400 (on the way in). (Via a Qlogic HBA). /etc/multipath.conf contains this : device { vendor "(COMPAQ|HP)" product "HSV1[01]1|HSV2[01]0|HSV300|HSV4[05]0" getuid_callout "/sbin/scsi_id -g -u -s /block/%n"

SUMMARY : multipath using defaults rather than multipath.conf contents for some devices (?) - why ?
The reason for the behaviour observed below turned out to be that the device entry in /etc/multipath.conf was inadvertently appended *after* the devices section , rather than inside it - so that we had #devices { # device { # blah blah # } (file has a bunch of defaults commented out) # etc #} # # device { our settings } *rather than*

CentOS 5.3 host not seeing storage device
Maybe one of you has experienced something like this before. I have a host running CentOS5.3, x86_64 version with the standard qla2xxx driver. Both ports are recognized and show output in dmesg but they never find my storage device: qla2xxx 0000:07:00.1: LIP reset occured (f700). qla2xxx 0000:07:00.1: LIP occured (f700). qla2xxx 0000:07:00.1: LIP reset occured (f7f7). qla2xxx 0000:07:00.0: LOOP

rsync question
I'm trying to rsync a 8TB data folder containing squillions of small files and it's taking forever (i.e. weeks) to get anywhere. I'm assuming the slow bit is check-summing everything with a single CPU (even though it's on a 12-core server ;-( ) Is it possible to do something simple like scp the whole dir in one go so they're duplicates in the first instance, then get rsync to

Documentation of R Version 2 binary file format (.rda)
Is there a document available that gives a clear description of the layout of data in a version 2 .RDA file. I have a free program (http://www.vsn-intl.com/genstat/downloads/datald.htm) (Windows/Linux/Sun MOTIF exes available) that reads and writes a wide range of file formats, and have been requested by my users to add R to this. It already does S+. Regards, David

Replacing a few variable values within a DataFrame...
I would like to replace a few varaibles within a data frame. For example, in the dataframe below (contrived) I would like to replace the current housesize value only if the Location is HSV. However, I would like to leave the other values intact. I tried "ifelse", but I don't really need the else condition. test_data2_df<-data.frame(Variables=c("SQR

Bug in hsv() (PR#712)
Ross posted this code: persp(x, y, z, col = cm.colors(10)[floor(9 * hgt + 1)], theta = 35) I hadn't seen the cm.colors function before; it's very nice! I wanted to modify it a bit to allow the start and end colors as well as the max saturation to be specified, and I think I may have turned up a bug in the hsv() function. Here's the evidence of the bug: Look at the results of
