If you have the epel repo installed and enabled during a yum update, you get java-1.6.0-openjdk-1.6.0.0-1.0.b12.el5.2 instead of the stock .b09 version. Is this intentional and desirable? Hi People I have been following the instructions here http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/JavaOnCentOS but trying to modify them for jdk-6u7-linux-amd64.rpm but there doesn't see to be a compatible java-1.6.0-sun-compat-*.rpm. Does one exist ? If not can anyone point me to some documentation on how I can manually set up things so alternatives will work allowing multiple Java versions.

hi, i am running R with JGR and Deducer under Ubuntu Mint Lucid. since i updated to R 2.12 i can no longer make graphs - R just crashes. the full error report was posted to launchpad (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openjdk-6/+bug/675905) without any success so far. anyone with a similar problem or helpful suggestions? thanks! kat

Dear all, I installed the amd64 cran2deb [1] JGR binaries on a fresh Debian testing, and JGR is missbehaving. When JGR starts up, one core of the CPU goes to 100% and stays there, even though I am keeping it idle and not performing any operation. It appears that the rpm does not list the logging.properties as a config file, as such every time yum updates the file get overwritten. /usr/lib/jvm/java-1.6.0-openjdk-1.6.0.0.x86_64/jre/lib/logging.properties For now I have a cron job to replace it.
