DKIM
Okay,
Yahoo is bumming me. Only system my mail is having an issue with. All mail
is accepted, but junked. I can only think it is the DKIM/Domain keys.
It is apparent that the dkim-milter is not part of the centos 5.x distro nor
is it part of the mirrors, as far as I can tell.
So...have any of you done it with your servers for sendmail?
There are some sites that claim to have rpms and I have

Self signed certs, openssl dovecot
So, at wits end. Have gone back to plain text for pop3.
I set up the ssl as per instructions but I always get a 'chain' error first
time trying to receive mail with my mail client.
Comes down I believe to the need to get a CA for dovecot's pem files or I
will always get an error.
Now I am thinking since I am self signing my own mail I should be able to
make that intermediate crt

evidence/timelines that show linux is "more secure"
I''m looking for some evidence, backup up with dates and references,
that shows that the Linux community responds to security problems
more quickly than other OS vendors, and thus might be considered
"more secure". A number of fairly high profile corporations are
starting to look for such information as they consider Linux as an
alternative solution to other UNIXes.

postfix and spam, I am impressed
I have had the same email address since 1997 (when microsoft stole
bob.com from me thanks to network solutions...)
In the early days I of course was free with my email and used it everwhere.
Fast forward to 2012, some 15 years later.
woof..the amount of spam sent to me has always just kept getting worse
and worse.
On my centos 5 server I just used sendmail with spamassassin and it

Iptables questions
Hello,
I have read and seen many options for additions to Iptables as a firewall
and security system. All seem to react to logs and not to incoming packets
(as far as I have seen)
I am interested in doing a number of security ideas to the firewall,
iptables, on my webserver. If you have a program you would suggest or
believe iptables is the proper solution, please feel free to post that.

Sendmail and headers
Hi all,
Hope someone out there has experience with this.
I can send, receive, and smtp my mail with my centos server fine and dandy.
All the virtual domains headers for from and reply to and such are good.
However, there is one field that I cannot change.
(centos 5.2, dns, sendmail, virtualhosts all on same server)
The ip and hostname of the server is coming up when the ehlo is called from

Sendmail 8.8.2 exploit.
Hm, look what I got hold of today.. Works if sendmail is mode 4111 or
similar:

# Hi !
# This is exploit for sendmail smtpd bug
# (ver. 8.7-8.8.2 for FreeBSD, Linux and may be other platforms).
# This shell script does a root shell in /tmp directory.

restrict postfix to only certain users getting incoming mail
Perhaps I am trying to do the impossible.
centos6, spamassassin, procmail, dovecot, postfix.
Postfix, by default, accepts all incoming mail to any user listed in the
shadow/passwd and alias files.
I cannot find a way to stop that without manually blocking each non
wanted user (like nobody, apache) without killing local delivery.
For most of the users listed in those files, who cares. However

OpenSSL
Hello anyone used OpenSSL before?
Why do we need to pay for expensive SSL certs when there is OpenSSL
which is provided free? Is there a difference?
I''ve got an ecommerce website, and wondering if OpenSSL is enough?
Your thoughts will be appreciated

Shorewall, PPTP VPN, and Samba
What I''m doing:
I have Shorewall on a SuSE 9.0 machine, which is the firewall/router
on the network. External interface is eth0 172.16.1.1, internal
interface is eth1 10.40.1.1. (I used the Two-interface Linux System
Quickstart Guide). All works well with that configuration. I also use
PPPD for dial-in clients, and have two modems for incoming calls.
Recently I added VPN interface

POP secure access??
Hi, I'm looking for a solution to access pop mails (sendmail in linux)
securely. Most of the access would be from window clients (outlook express
etc). Is there a way to encrypt the password (like ssh2) when authenticating
with sendmail? Any info is greatly appereceiated. Thx.
Regards,
Wong.

signing certs
I noticed a behaviour which is kind of confusing. I have the puppetmasterd
running. Now I want a new client to connect. I edit the site.pp and add
the client. When the client is started I can see it with puppetca --list.
So I sign the client. When it next tries to connect it shows:
notice: Allowing ::ffff:192.168.x.y(::ffff:192.168.x.y) untrusted access
to CA methods

signing dovecot certs with own Cert. Auth.
Hi,
I'm trying to get apache, sendmail , and dovecot to
use SSL certs signed by my own CA. I've got the apache
certs working fine. However, dovecot ( I haven't even
tried sendmail yet) doesn't seem to accept any of the
certificates that I create for it. There is a script
that comes with dovecot that creates self-signed
certificates for you but, I need certificates signed

Messages lost from imap folders
Hello,
We have one user who is complaining that he has lost mails from 3 imap
folders, administered through squirrelmail.
The folders suddenly appeared unregistered, and once manually registered
they were empty.
Has anyone observed something like this?
We are running two servers (as VMs) with Dovecot v2.2.18, synced
(two-way) using dsync. The configurations follow.
Can you please help me

Hi;
I continue to be plagued with this error:

How to make IMAPS SSL Cert for Dovecot that works with Thunderbird
Hello Aki and all,
The below lines are in the dovecot config file. This seems to be the
same as Aki's suggestion. correct? I have also double checked file
perms, tried with several new key gens, several versions of thunderbird
and created completely new thunderbird profiles.
Thank you,
