Does sprof work on CentOS5?
No matter how I try, I can't seem to get a library profile from sprof on
CentOS5.
Does anyone know if sprof actually works on CentOS5? I'd be very
interested to hear if anyone is using it successfully.
At the moment I'm trying something like this to get the dump:
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=. LD_PROFILE=libmy.so ./mymain
where libmy.so is the library I want to profile, and mymain is the

Is oprofile still working?
Hi all,
Is anyone using oprofile?
I'm getting segfaults from opreport at the moment, and I'm not sure if
it is opreport, or just me.
In case it is something just plain daft I am doing, here is how it goes:
opcontrol --reset
opcontrol --setup --no-vmlinux
opcontrol --start
... now I run my program, /tmp/myprog ...
opcontrol --dump
opcontrol --shutdown
then I run,
opreport -l

Spamassassin as root and pyzor
I've just set up a new mailserver using Centos5.2
(sendmail+clamav-milter+spamass-milter).
I'm using the spamass-milter package from rpmforge
(spamass-milter-0.3.1-1.el5.rf).
I notice that the default setup is to run it as root. I set up my
previous mailserver on Centos4, and I can't remember if I did anything
special, but on that machine it runs as user "sa-milt".

Seagate Constellation vs. Hitachi Ultrastar
Happy Friday, List!
I''m spec''ing out a Thumper-esque solution and having trouble finding my favorite Hitachi Ultrastar 2TB drives at a reasonable post-flood price. The Seagate Constellations seem pretty reasonable given the market circumstances but I don''t have any experience with them. Anybody using these in their ZFS systems and have you had good luck?
Also, if

Using same ZFS under different kernel versions
I build two zfs filesystems using b29 (from brandz).
I then re-installed solaris express b28, preserving the zfs filesystems.
When I tried to "zpool import" my zfs filesystems I got a kernel panic:

[PATCH] Password expiry with Privsep and PAM
Hi All.
Attached is a patch that implements password expiry with PAM and
privsep. It works by passing a descriptor to the tty to the monitor,
which sets up a child with that tty as stdin/stdout/stderr, then runs
chauthtok(). No setuid helpers.
I used some parts of Michael Steffens' patch (bugid #423) to make it
work on HP-UX.
It's still rough but it works. Tested on Solaris 8 and

pam_open_session w/o tty on Solaris
Hello, all-
Apparently, under Solaris (I can personally confirm SunOS 5.7 and 5.8),
pam_open_session will generate a segfault if PAM_TTY is not set. The
obvious symptom of this is that OpenSSH 2.9.9p2 will segfault on any
operation that does not request a tty (do_exec_no_pty).
Based on a quick google search, this seems to have been encountered
by others, though the specific symptoms seem to

Login Feature
I asked one of my team mates to evaluate centos 5.2 as a more stable
distro for our business use than Fedora which we have used for years.
His main objection so far has been the lack of a neat feature of
recent Fedoras (at least since 7) that allows a user to login as
himself if the screen is locked by another user (a switch user
feature).
Is that feature available or is it planned?
Thanks.

reproducible zfs panic on Solaris 10 06/06
Hi,
I am able to reproduce the following panic on a number of Solaris 10 06/06 boxes (Sun Blade 150, V210 and T2000). The script to do this is:
#!/bin/sh -x
uname -a
mkfile 100m /data
zpool create tank /data
zpool status
cd /tank
ls -al
cp /etc/services .
ls -al
cd /
rm /data
zpool status

Caching authentication request
Hi,
I've got some problem with samba (v3.0.22) on a linux (RedHat 4 ES)
running squid (2.5Stable6). My server has joined a WIndows Domain.
My problem is that from time to time, and usually on rush hour, Squid
runs out of authentication process and at the same time, winbind have
also no more authentication process free (winbindd: Exceeding 200
client connections, no idle connection found).

bug reports and missing license headers
Hi all!
What is the right way to report bugs in libopus? I couldn't find any
publicly available bugtracker.
Anyway, the problem I need to report is that some source files in
libopus are missing copyright headers. This breaks license check
script that we use in chromium to validate licenses for third-party
dependencies. Specifically the following files don't have copyright
header:

Where are chan_capi bug reports and bugfixes sent?
Hello all
I found a bug in the chan_capi driver (really a not implemented message
handling and then a false error condition) and I guess I have wrote a
patch to fix it (basically I searched the internet for other capi open
source implementation an borrowed the code snippet) but I don't know
where to send the report and bugfix.
I also found some miss-behaviours that I would like to share

please test my new patch to chan_sip.c which is to make call pickup on
the snom phones (and maybe other phones that support 'INVITE/Replaces')
work and make comments in the bugtracker
http://bugs.digium.com/view.php?id=3644 so it can make its way into the cvs.

Extension Lights Patch
Guys I just read on the wiki:
"2005-07-19 - long awaited extension lights (hint priority) and call pickup
on various phones work with newly released asterisk patch digium bugtracker
- feel free to test and report findings to the bugtracker to have this
commited to cvs."
How does this work? And will it work only on certain phones or can it work
with the gxp2000?

bugtracker for SwitchTower?
Is there a bugtracker for SwitchTower? It just made ''current'' point to
a directory that was already inside the ''releases'' directory instead of
the making ''current'' point to the checkout location the log showed. The
directory it made ''current'' point to was left over from when I was doing
manual releases. I want to make
