How do I configure shorewall to work with VoIP SIP?
Hello,
Let me first start by saying Shorewall is awesome, and I use it
everywhere from single box firewall, to home network firewall, even to
our corporate firewall.
I am experiencing a problem getting my home firewall to work with my
BroadVoice VoIP connection. I use the Sipura SPA-2100 ATA (Analog
Telephone Adapter) that came with my BroadVoice account. This happened
when I tried to replace

pm-utils - ATrpms updates a system package on the stable branch
I performed a clean minimal CentOS 5.2 install, fully updated the
system, and then added the ATrpms repository. When I perform an update
after adding the ATrpms repository, the package pm-utils is updated the
the ATrpms repository. My understanding is there should not have been
any updates as the stable version does not update system packages, right?

is it possible to have 64bit HVM domU?
Hallo!
I am using on a system based on Debian GNU/Linux Etch on AMD64 platform
Linux and Solaris running in a HVM domU but they both seem to be 32bit
environments. I know so because 64bit Linux didnt boot and said
something about am I trying to run it in 32 bit environment; and because
i had to install 32bit Oracle because 64bit Oracle said it expected
BIT_SIZE=64 and got BIT_SIZE=32. And also,

switch from 32bit to 64bit
Hi,
I plan to copy /usr/local/samba from 32bit Ubuntu 14.04 to 64bit Devuan
1.0, and then just recompile Samba. Should this work, or are there any
differences in database or other internal files between 32bit and 64bit
versions of Samba?
If I also want to switch from NT4-PDC to AD-DC, should I first switch to
64bit, or is the order of these two changes irrelevant?
thanks,
Klaus

rebuilding kernel modules issues
I have a Tyan S3870 (K855A) motherboard which I would like to perform a
burn in test with. lm_sensors needs a kernel module compiled to be
support this motherboard's sensors.
The instructions, for compiling the module, by tyan
(ftp://ftp.tyan.com/software/lms/3870.sensors.conf) match closely with
the instructions I found here
(http://www.howtoforge.com/kernel_compilation_centos).

Sangoma A200 wt HW echo on 64bit Centos , 4 fxo and crosstalk!
Hi,
Has anyone ever experienced crosstalk with sangoma analogue cards on 64bit?
We have exhausted every test to try and replicate this and find a
solution with Sangoma tech support, but we can not fix it.
We are about to try the card and four *seperate* UK BT lines in a 32bit system.
The current system is a 4gb, dual core cpu with pbx in a flash 1.4,
Zaptel and Asterisk 1.4.21-2

Power User Tipping Point: PHP to Ruby
I have been waiting for a tipping point to start using Ruby
applications instead of PHP applications. My criteria include the
availability of Ruby and RoR web hosts and Ruby equivalent applications
readily available for PHP. I keep finding PHP applications to fill my
needs but not Ruby applications or hosts offering Ruby support. For
example, I use content management systems which are

lilesystem size limit samba on 64bit 2.6 kernel vs. clients win2k/winxp ?
I had an incredibly hard time finding any documentation on filesystem size
limits for samba on 64bit linux with 2.6 kernel exporting to 32bit windows 2003
and windows-xp by googling.
The closest I could get to was that cifs filesystem size correlates to ntfs
filesystem size and therefore there would be a 64TB limit. Are there additional
limits within the software stack that I should be aware of?

x86 uniprocessor 4GB memory (fwd)
If you have an AGP video card which you aren't actually using you can try
selecting the minimum possible AGP apperture (window whatever) size (possibly
even disable it?). This might help. Also removing the AGP card and using a
junk 1-8MB svga card will also possibly work. In my experience the linear
framebuffer of video cards is by far the greatest memory hog these days.
Cheers,
MaZe.

I ran the following test on 3 different setups:

$rusage1=memory_get_usage(true);

Was wondering if there are any plans to update either the kernel

For example, on a 4.8-STABLE machine:

Xen HV 64bit?
I need to support 32GB of ram, the 32bit HV wont do this i guess. Can i run
a 64bit HV with a 32bit Dom0 and a 32bit DomU?
Also, i tried building a 64bit HV on a 32bit dom0 but it failed, is it not
possible to build a 64bit HV on a 32bit dom0?

Performance Problems while reading
Hi all
We are using a 2 node cluster with drbd 8 (primary/primary state) and
ocfs2. Reading a file on one node while it will be written on the other
node is very slow. Reading a file on node while it will be written on
the same node is fast.
In the first case the node which wants to read the file has to ask the
other to downgrade the locklevel. In my opinion this is a bottleneck, if
the files are
