merb_sequel raketasks not working?
I''m trying to run on trunk. When I run "rake -T" I get an error: undefined local variable or method `full_config'' for Merb::Orms::Sequel:Module I''m not 100% sure that I haven''t messed something up, so I hesitate to cry "bug" without checking with everyone. Is anyone else seeing this? P.S. I''m running merb trunk installed as a gem,

acts_as_authenticated error with Object#id
I''m getting this when I run my Rails controller specs. <projectroot>/config/../lib/authenticated_system.rb:16: warning: Object#id will be deprecated; use Object#object_id I added "include AuthenticatedTestHelper" to /spec/spec_helper.rb so that my controller tests^H^H^H^H^Hspecs can use the "login_as" helper method. Anyone know how to fix this? -- Cheers,

speccing a call to break
How can I spec that a method calls break? As far as I can see from ri, break is a pure syntax element (not a method from Kernel or Object), so I''m not sure what to mock... E.g.: class SomeClass def a_method loop do break end end end Scott P.S. Sorry for the annoying questions, but I just want to know! P.P.S: What is the right form of the verb "to spec" in

Mongrel breaking Merb?
Has anyone had troubles from Mongrel > 1.0.1? Just curious, because the last time I tried to run Merb it gave me some Mongrel error about the wrong number of arguments, or something like that. I can post the exact message tonight when I get home. -- Cheers, Kevin Williams http://kevwil.com/ http://www.almostserio.us/ http://kevwil.jaiku.com/

respond_to API
I''ll probably do my respond_to API rewrite, as discussed here: http://rubyforge.org/pipermail/merb-devel/2007-September/000275.html sometime this week, unless someone has come up with a better API. I''ll also work in http://merb.devjavu.com/ticket/227 at the same time. Any serious objections?

RSpec book?
<http://www.apress.com/book/bookDisplay.html?bID=10368> Came across this as a stub page browsing Amazon UK. This is good news! I''m surprised it hasn''t been discussed on the list before. Was Chad keeping it a secret? I hope it will have plenty of BDD theory. I''m still waiting for that magic book I can give to someone and say "here - read this, it

skeleton and configs
Hi people, just thought I''d mumble out my thoughts on merb''s apps directory structure and config concepts and see what other people are feeling... the app dir: mvc/application is layed out as expected....maybe without the mailer by default (another discussion) the config dir: I really think that it''s confusing to have such a mixture of ways to configure some

unusual challenges speccing external software
This is something I''ve come up against twice. First, I have an interactive editor which calls vi, emacs, or TextMate (etc.) via Unix, and then loads the file handed to the editor back into IRB after it''s edited and saved. I guess that makes it a special case of a more general question, which is how do you spec external processes, with a slightly more complicated version of the

How to spec a (Trollop-based) binary’s internal state?
I?m trying to spec a ?binary?, and as previously discussed on this list, I?m trying to do it ?from outside? ? i.e., by calling it with Kernel#` and observing the (side-)effects. Unfortunately, this doesn?t really let me spec expectations about its internals. Let?s assume I have a -d flag and I parse it with Trollop to set Conf.debug: opts = Trollop::options do opt :debug, ''Print debug

Tutorial about XMLHttpRequest+Rails
Hi All I just finished writing up a tutorial relating my experience developing a system to edit line-items ''in-line'' in my Rails application using XMLHttpRequest. I thought this might be of interest to some readers of this list... Check it out at http://hieraki.goodlad.ca/read/book/1 Thanks! Unknown image type: VMX
Hi all I am trying to get VMX guests working on my new server here. The machine has a Pentium D 920 on an ASUS P5WD2-E motherboard. I''ve updated the BIOS to the latest 0401, which added the virtualization option. I am running a fresh installation of Gentoo (64-bit). When I try and run ''xm create'' on a vmx config file, I get the following error: Error: Error

Font rendering in Firefox after effects
Hi all I''ve started using some of the scriptaculous effects here, and have noticed something weird. Whenever I use one of the effects, it causes many of the fonts on the same page to rendered with a lighter weight (ie: "less bold"). Has anyone else noticed a similar effect in Firefox? I use 1.5b1 on Mac. This seems to be a common bug in moz-based browsers, as Camino does

Speccing a respond_to block outside of a request
Hi -- I have a bunch of controllers whose index actions are so similar, I can safely stick most of the code in a superclass. I am having trouble, however, in speccing the index method in the superclass. It could look like this: http://pastie.org/240207 This is the class that the controllers that would actually get called would inherit from. I want to describe SuperController#index in a spec, so

CentOS 6.5 RHCS fence loops
Hi Guys, I'm using centos 6.5 as guest on RHEV and rhcs for cluster web environment. The environtment : web1.example.com web2.example.com When cluster being quorum, the web1 reboots by web2. When web2 is going up, web2 reboots by web1. Does anybody know how to solving this "fence loop" ? master_wins="1" is not working properly, qdisk also. Below the cluster.conf, I

Stubs breaking other things
Hi All I''m working on converting some existing controller specs to use mocks and stubs rather than real ActiveRecord objects in a Rails project. In one of my controller actions, I use a database transaction. So, the obvious thing to do is have this in my setup block: Project.stub!(:transaction) Firstly, is there an easy way to have that stub yield to the block passed to any

Consistent testing with methods that depend on Date.today
Hi everyone I''m building an app in which quite a bit of data is dependant on dates (and times), and I have logic that depends on when ''today'' is. I''m trying to get some better functional tests written, and am unsure of the best way to approach it. The problem is that I want the tests to run against the same data every time, whether I run it on Tuesday or

Speccing a rake task
Greetings, I''m writing a custom rake task, and I''d like to write an assosciated spec for it. Does anyone have an example spec for a rake task? I''ve seen some examples on the web that use these before blocks: before(:each) do @rake = Rake::Application.new Rake.application = @rake end And use @rake["db:user_migration"].invoke To invoke the
