GPLPV version to use
I am using a standard Centos 5.4 setup, with kernel-xen-2.6.18-164.15.1.el5 and xen 3.1.2-164.11.1.el5.
I have just succeed in migrating an existing XP to this setup and installed successfully gplpv 0.11.0.213.
On an other 2003 VM, I am using 0.10.0.134 since several months without any problem.
Looking at http://www.meadowcourt.org/downloads/, it seams there is a lot of version in that

vixie-cron package from RHEL 5 FasTrack?
What is the best way to get the RPM described in the following URL
installed on CentOS 5.2:
http://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHBA-2008-0586.html
I have users who can't run cron jobs because their home directories
are NFS mounted, and I believe installing this RPM would fix the
problem. I remember reading that the CentOS developers are working
on supporting the RHEL FasTrack

centOS vs "the upstream vendor"
Hi All;
I have a laptop running the "workstation" version of Linux from RedHat. I've
enabled the EPEL and rpmfusion repos plus I'm subscribed to the following
channels:

* Red Hat Network Tools for RHEL Client (v.5 64-bit x86_64)
* RHEL Desktop Supplementary (v. 5 for 64-bit x86_64)

Fasttrack Repo on CentOS 4
A quick question on the fasttrack repo which is now
up to date with upstream. Why is the fasttrack repo not
in the main CentOS-Base.repo file but contrib which has never
had anything is included in the main CentOS-Base.repo file?
The goal of CentOS is to be binary-compatible with upstream so
fasttrack is "more important" in this regard than contrib.

Missing update / update announcement
Hi,
the C5 updates to openoffice.org-2.0.4-5.4.26 are available on the
mirrors, but no announcement has come through the centos-announce
mailing list yet.
Also, upstream has released gnome-screensaver-2.16.1-5.el5_1.1 and
gnome-screensaver-2.16.1-8.el5 (FasTrack channel) beginning of April.
Neither is available yet for C5.
Best regards,
Bernd.

CentOS FastTrack repository
The upstream provider has started a new channel called fastrack. It is
detailed here (see the whole thread):
https://www.redhat.com/archives/nahant-list/2006-April/msg00001.html
CentOS will also build the fastrack SRPMS. We have created separate
repositories in CentOS-3 and CentOS-4 called fasttrack. (I know the
spelling is different, that is by design. We don't want to use the name

Wiki links broken

Thanks, Johnny.
That's not really my problem. My problem is that I now need to track an
additional channel for updates, with associated local mirror and scripting.
I was only vaguely aware of it until I was looking for an update I know I
saw in the announce digest

Changes at Red Hat confouding CentOS (was: What happened to 6.1)
These seems to me to be the first message in the series and provides a
really good summary of the changes at Red Hat which seem to be making
life a lot more difficult for CentOS.
Just figured I'd pull it out of that thread and change the subject line.
Below Johnny's email I've copied another from the original thread,
written by Lamar Owen, which gives some good explanation on how Red

Samba 2.2.8 under OpenBSD 3.3
Hi, I'm dropping a little question.
I've set up a samba server and homes and public shares.
Everything works almost fine.
The only thing that bothers me is about files and directory masks.
In ssh session, I got files with 0700(-rwx------) mask and dirs with
0755(drwxr-xr-x) mask.
As I see, there are many mask options in smb.conf so I'm not really sure
wich would best fit with my needs

TDM400P with FXO/FXS hangup problem
Hello,
I've got an Asterisk server with a TDM400P with 2 FXO modules and 2 FXS
modules. This server is connected to 2 PSTN lines and 2 analog phones.
In my Zaptel configuration, I've defined 2 groups : one for the 2 FXO's
and one for the 2 FXS. The asterisk server is just used to add a little
IVR and Voicemail service.
Eveything works fine, but sometimes the conversation is

Would you opine with detail on the best repo setup for a desktop CentOS 5?
