iptables: forwarding on internal device
Good Evening, I am trying to forward packages on an internal device using iptables: /sbin/iptables -A FORWARD -i eth0 -o eth0 -m state --state NEW,RELATED,ESTABLISHED -j ACCEPT but the packages are still blocked, e.g.: Feb 6 20:58:28 firewall kernel: DROP-TCP IN=eth0 OUT=eth0 SRC=192.168.100.177 DST=172.28.2.184 LEN=40 TOS=0x00 PREC=0x00 TTL=127 ID=16609 PROTO=TCP SPT=7166 DPT=3590 WINDOW=0

Certificates Revocation Lists and Apache...
Hi, already asked in the openssl mailing list, but just in case you already went through this... I need a little help with Certificate Revocation Lists. I did setup client certificates filtering with apache and it seem to work fine so far (used a tutorial on http://www.adone.info/?p=4, down right now). I have a "CA" that is signing a "CA SSL". Then, the "CA SSL" is

revision numbers on translated articles
Good Evening. As the 'translation community' is growing I would like to suggest to add the 'revision number' of the original article on which the translation is based on, so someone else could easily diff to keep translations up to date. It would be great if translators add something like: 'translation based on #N' as footnote where N is the version of the original

sftp over 2 hosts?
Hi list, I tried sftp and it works perfect via a direct connection between 2 hosts. Our situation is that we have to go from our intranet through a firewall gateway to the internet and then to a third server. With "normal" ssh this works via: "ssh -t hosta ssh hostb". It seems to me that this doesn't work with sftp ;-((. Would it be complicate to implement? Thanks Stephan

Banging my head on wall (hosts)
Ok, so I figured I''d move this here since IRC isn''t the place for it. Ok, so I have my 40ish servers. Of those, 36 or so of them have hosts entries that need to look like this: 127.0.0.1 localhost 172.x.x.x dbprod1.xxx.com dbprod1 172.x.x.x mgmt01.xxx.com mgmt01 puppet certmaster 172.x.x.x mybox.xxx.com mybox Where mybox is the name of the box. The others have a few

DNS & DHCP Management System
Hello A few (or a lot) of us supports larger corporate networks. I would like know your opinion/solution based on CentOS. No Win auto/dynamic/smart (WI|D)NS/DHCP How do you manage DNS&DHCP (the informations filled in, not the server software) for hundreds or thousands of computers? For our network, just now we use homebrewed scripts, but they are getting unsufficient (cca. 700

DHCP server failover: advise is needed
Dear Experts, I was running ISC DHCP server for longer than I would care to remember. Now I decided to climb out of the cave and configure failover set (primary-secondary), and I seem to hit brick wall, which I need help with. I only need IP v4, no v6, which may simplify things. Could someone point to a description of working DHCP failover configuration? I do not want to make two independent

Hi, I'm heavly relying on rsync -nvrc during my day-to-day work in UNIX-like enviroment. I'm using rsync for few years now and today I've found a situation which I do not understand. I have two directories with few maildirs in it. Each maildir containg some emails. I'm testing scripts which I wrote to manipulate those emails. Each time I want to revert changes in one set of

polkit helper timeout and defunct pkla-check-authorization processes on CentOS 7.3
Hi everyone, We seem to be having issues on multiple CentOS 7.3 machines. The problem seems to revolve around polkitd. At some random time, polkitd seems to stop responding on my systems. Along with this, there might be hundreds of defunct pkla-check-authorization processes. If I reboot, then things are fine for a while. I don't see any activity in the unabridged journal to suggest anything

imapsieve: script not triggered
Hi, folks! My problem: I set up dovecot with imapsieve to execute a script whenever a user copies a mail to his Spam folder (spam autolearning). Unfortunately this script is never executed regardless what I?m configuring for imapsieve. It looks like dovecot doesn?t really load the plugin? The "dovecot -n" output is attached. I already tried setting imapsieve_mailbox1_name to *, but

Mail addresses with quotes + Postfix
I wrapped the LDA command in a script. I can see that Postfix passes "@@mydomain.tld" as the -d argument, without quotes. I then adapted the script to specifically replace this address with "@"@mydomain.tld, but this results in the following error message by Dovecot: ??? auth: Info: userdb(?): Username character disallowed by auth_username_chars: 0x22 (username:

Internal DNS Forwarder
I have setup a Samba PDC using the following guide: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setup_a_Samba_Active_Directory_Domain_Controller I have opted to use the internal Samba DNS server and have specified a DNS forwarder of 8.8.8.8 When I test the DNS functionality according to the guide everything appears fine: user at myhost:~$ host -t SRV _ldap._tcp.ad.mydomain.com.au.
