Raid Cards
http://www.highpoint-tech.com/datasheets/RR2220%20datasheet_050430.pdf Anyone know if this is any good under Centos 4.3 ? I see there is a current RHEL 3 and 4 driver. Would that driver survive kernel upgrades, I'm guessing it would being modular ? (please don't tell me that 3ware is the only make to use, tw_cli is not exactly user friendly). Anyone using this -

Centos for entry level server : Motherboard?
I've been burned by Sata not working on an Asus motherboard (nVidia / nForce) and need to select something that will work for a fairly light duty web/mail/sql server. How do I go about finding out if a specific motherboard will work with sata software raid and Centos 4.4 (or 5.x when it's settled down). real SATA RAID
Hi Last week I had a lengthy thread in which someone indicated the my SIL card is a FRAID (don't know if F stands for the F word or Fake, though it doesn't really matter). I want to replace the controller with a controller that Linux will see the RAID1 group as a single HD and not multiple HDs as it happens with the SIL controller. Recommendations anyone? -- TIA Paolo --------------

NX on 4.5 vs 5.0
NX connections to my 4.5 server give "cramped" looking fonts (as if the resolution were wrong). Connections to my 5.0 server look great regardless of the resolution. Both use GNOME. Is there anything I can do to the 4.5 servers to increase the quality of the NX connections? Thanks, Scott

[stuart.leask@nottingham.ac.uk: R in your pocket on a Sharp Zaurus]
Ah, but the interesting thing is that they are coming out with a 'clam' version like the 5MX. Details are limited at the moment, but that could mean the combination of 5MX usability with a supported linux distro. I am drooling in anticipation. Sounds like a "I've finally finished my PhD and deserve a treat" situation to me :) Dave On Thu, Mar 06, 2003 at 09:17:20AM

Recommendation for PCI-e SATA RAID 5 card?
Hello: I am looking for a recommendation for a PCI-e RAID card for my server. The server has a PCI-e x16 low profile slot so the card has to be at most 6.6 inches long x 2.536 inches high. I would like to use RAID 5 with 3 drives so I have to have those capabilities. It has to be CentOS 5.4 compatible (Of course!). I took a look at the offerings from 3Ware, but their cards are too long. If

Running C6 fileserver. Want to replace 7 year old HDs connected to an Areca ARC-1220 raid sata II (3Gb/s) controller. Has anyone used this controller with newer 2TB SATA III (6Gb/s) WD Re drives like the WD2000FYYZ or the WD2004FBYZ?

SATA controler req
Hello, I'm looking for a recomendation for a SATA controlers. In the range of 4-8 ports, either PCI or PCIe (for desktop use) and/or PCI-X, PCIe (for server use). I'd especially like it if the Linux driver was already in CentOS or easily added. Everytime I find something interesting, a google search shows up either the drivers is for 2.6.30 (ie, not CentOS), someone tried it and it was

Offtopic: Which SAS / SATA HBA do you recommend?
Hi all, Sorry for the offtopic question. I hope though that others on this list or reading the archive find the answers useful too. It seems the Adaptec 1405 4port SAS HBA I bought only works with RHEL and SuSE through a closed source driver, and thus is quite useless :-( I was stupid enought to think "Works with RHEL and SuSE" meant "Certified for RHEL and SuSE, but driver in
