The Wrong Choice: Locked in by license restrictions
A colleague pointed me to this article advocating R as a Matlab

Trying to get a better understanding of group mapping
Okay...
I have been doing some reading re: group mapping but a few questions remain.
Here is what I understand. Feel free to correct me where I am wrong.
Group mapping is necessary to provide Windows domain accounts with
privileges on the Linux machine.
The net groupmap modify command is used to map any Windows group to a Linux
group.
Now for the things I don't fully understand:

Gartner Article (was: Re: asterisk-users Digest, Vol 44, Issue 32)

That, in a nutshell, is why Gartner is so out of touch. It pays!

Will pv-ops dom0-patched kernel be eventually merged into Linus Torvalds'' mainline Linux kernel tree?

NUT Christmas mail
Dear NUT users and developers,
Like the other years, before taking a small rest, here are some news
related to NUT.
* First, you should have seen the 2.0.5-pre1 release announcement.
I don't think 2.0.5 is very far, but I realized that I've made an
archive including the .svn directory (bad, bad me. I should know that
release are made against exported svn, not checked out!)

everyone acl
Howdy all,
I was wondering if there was a known bug with the everyone acl. When
looking at the security tab on windows the everyone acl has the read
permission. If I unselect it to give everyone no permission and hit
apply, read becomes checked again. If I select deny everyone read, then
a warning pops up saying this will deny read for all users and it does.
If after that I give read to another

MonkeyShell: using XML-RPC for access to a remote shell

RE: Delegation of authentication (S4U) and SAMBA
Hello,
Does samba support the use of S4U?
What do we need to configure in SAMBA or krb5 to support getting a
ticket obtained by S4U. We are using 3.0.25 and krb5-1.4.1
We are getting the following error:
decode_pac_data: Name in PAC [username@something1.something2.realmname]
does not match principal name in ticket
The ticket could be different than the PAC name because the

Drupal/MySQL performance in Xen and OpenVZ
Hi,
We are considering a transition from OpenVZ to Xen for our web server
infrastructure. The primary task performed by the virtual servers is to run
a number of Drupal sites with a MySQL backend. The webserver and MySQL
servers are on separate virtual hosts. We also have a number of smaller
hosts running on the same hardware (a couple of dev-servers, a
logging-and-monitoring server, a secondary

Note that making an LVM snapshot, alone, will not provide a consistent
image for a backup. If you want to back up a snapshot of a
