We have 50 PCs that are running on WinXP I want connect these PCs to one server PC it run on Debian . Over IP Range is 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0 What are the main step to install samba on debian . I created a i586 install image with qemu. I downloaded the SRPMS package for the kernel and installed it. I cd /usr/src/redhat/SPECS rpmbuild -bp --target i586 kernelXXX.spec I does a bunch of things but it did not build a new kernel and put it in /boot I think I am missing a command to actually BUILD the kernel. I plan to install CentOS 4.3 on some older IBM Netfinity which have Pentium III chips. I see that there is now a i586 pxeboot image for 4.3, I think that's new. Can I use that for Pentium III? Kai

While I know that, technically, the only i586 machines are the Pentium and Pentium MMX, it is still nice that I can use some headless AMD K6/2 machines I have lying around for CentOS 4. Hi all. Decided to upgrade an old Slackware 10 box I had. The box is running a VIA C3 processor and apparently doesn't support the cmov extension that most i686 processors do. I have Centos 4.4 i386 installed an on i686. I tried making a mini-test live cd based on this install that just starts bash but it only works on i686 machines and not i586. I only have i386 glibc and all other packages are i386. I copied all of the necessary .so files. I even manually compiled bash using -march=i386 & -mtune=i386 but it will only run on i686. Can anyone explain why?

Hi I have problems installing R 2.1.1. from rpm (R-base-2.2.0-1.i586.rpm) on SuSE 10.
