Realplayer audio/video plays fast & noisy on nVidia HDMI connected to HDTV
Hello, This's my first ever post to CentOS lists. Sorry if I made any mistakes. My family is familiar with this RealPlayer Gold 11 and hesitate to use VLC or others. I googled a lot and tried different settings to no avail. Could you please tell me what I need to edit in order to slow down the audio/video playback of this old player? All other apps - even some older than Realplayer can play

virt-manager guest and sound
I am running C7 host and pulse audio. I have a Win 10 guest with ICH9 audio. It works - but I hear artifacts. Anything to do to help audio be flawless under guest VM ? Currently I was just on youtube and playing a song. nothing special. Plenty of resources on the host. The guest has 8G ram and 8 CPU. Thanks Jerry

Weired Sound Issues on Opensuse 11.1 and ALSA (Wine 1.1.26)
Hello Everybody I got some little issues with the sound. Logged in as my normal user - I've the testsound (winecfg) on the internal device. I can't change it. If I log in as root I've the testsound on my external USB speakers (the way I would prefer it works). I can't Imagine me - why there is a different between root and my normal user. Please find below some details. Code:

No sound even without Pulse installed
I prefer to use Pulseaudio, but since apperantly I'm not allowed to do that anymore if I want to hear things out of Wine, I removed it for now. And guess what, it still doesn't work. I have two sound cards, the HDMI one in my graphics card and my regular one hooked up to the speakers, which is why I like Pulse because I can easily send different apps to different cards. Here's my

FYI -- Just to let you know of potential sound problems
I have the latest version of Ubuntu Studio (Karmic) and just re-installed it today. I use non-pulse applications, including Audacity and Dragon NaturallySpeaking running under wine. I have tried disabling pulseaudio every way I know how. I am getting no sound, mostly due to what are described as timeout errors. Ubuntu has been working to make it run with pulseaudio properly disabled, so that

choppy audio playback
Oh, wise Centaurs, On the last install (Suse) I was running on this old notebook (Dell i600m) the audio worked fine. Specifically, Realplayer and onsite players (like you get at NPR and other sites) and youtube played just fine. But with this current install (CentOS 5.3, fully updated) all of those sources just mentioned play choppy. It's like an echo so severe that it's impossible to

Sound Stutters and Sputters then dies
Hey Y'all, Recently my sound has been misbehaving. The issue exists when I play sound using Rhythmbox, Totem Movie Player, or even Youtube video in Firefox or Chrome. The sound stutters and drops out. Sounds very rough. On Youtube the sound will eventually just die and can not be restarted until the browser is shut down and restarted. I've had issues related to Repo Forge

Swfdec and Ffmpeg only
Hi, I'm the founder and still very active developer of Puppy Linux, and a variant named Quirky. Puppy is a cut-down distro, typically 100MB live-CD. We have always used the Adobe Flash player, though I have stayed with the Flash 9 player (9.0.48.0) due to its smaller size. Puppy also has ffmpeg, xine-lib and gxine. Recently I have been experimenting with Swfdec and Swfdec-mozilla. I started

And I could listen to most podcasts too. But then something happened. It was either a kernel upgrade or that I installed vlc (for watching videos on DVD) and the whole stack of codecs for it... I

Linux Sound Architecture (Updated)
I forgot the most important part in the original, the kernel! (I hope the ASCII art doesn't get mangled) I have been working a while trying to get a big picture of how Linux handles sound processing and after much work I have put together this little representation of what I have learned. Please send me any additional comments or components that I may have missed. I hope it helps somebody

No sound, no information why, where to start?
Wine and spotify used to work. Now it doesn't, and I don't know why. Main problem is that Wine doesn't give any information back regarding why audio fails, only that it fails. When using winecfg, opening the Audio tag, choosing Alsa Driver and pressing "Test sound", a pop up reports "Audio test failed!". Nothing more. Choosing OSS, switching to emulation, same
