OT - Windows slowdown?
I know this isn't the right forum for this (do I ever!), but you-all know so much about everything I thought I'd ask. About two months ago I resurrected my daughter's Compaq laptop (cracked screen - replaced it) and ran an update on it. It's running Windows XP, SP1 (I think), but since the update it has run about 1/3 as fast as it used to. Does anyone know if there was a WXP

Change Web Server to another disk in Centos 5.2
Hi, I'm new to CentOS 5.2 and I want to know how can I change the /var/www/html directory to another disk. That disk is not even partitioned. I've googled and even searched in centos.org forums and documentation, and found nothing. I want to have in separate disks CentOS and my web server. Can anybody recommend any CentOS 5.2 book, because every time I want to find an answer to my

looking for alternative to SME & Clark Connect
Hi all, I'm looking for a (preferably free) alternative to SME / Clark Connect. I basically need the following: - firewall - nat - VPN - bandwidth limiting / monitoring - email (SMTP / POP3 / IMAP) & groupware - file & printer sharing - RAID support - if possible fail-over / high availability support. I need to support about 15 - 30 (some part time) students, so I would like to keep

Use 8GB RAM on Pentium D?
Hello: I have a Supermicro SuperServer 5015P-TR. It has a Pentium D and is running CentOS x86_64. Can this machine use 8GB RAM? I think it should because it is running a 64 bit OS, but I am concerned because it is fundamentally 32 bit hardware. Anyone have any experience in this area? Bonding and Xen
Does anyone has implemented this sucessfully? I am asking this because we are implementing Xen on our test lab machines, which they hold up to three 3com and intel Nics 10/100mbps based. These servers are meant to replace MS messaging and intranet webservers which holds up to 5000 hits per day and thousands of mails, and probably the Dom0 could not handle this kind of setup with only one 100mbps

Installing Cent OS from a usb flash drive
I recently acquired a Fujitsu Lifebook 1610. Unfortunately, the machine was missing a lot of the stuff that would've come with it brand new, mainly the usb cdrom drive. Currently, I'm running Fedora on it, and I installed it using a usb flash drive with the help of a program called unetbootin(Probably not spelled right). to load the ISO onto the USB drive. I've successfully used

good small registrar?
Greetings, What are some registrars that members of this list have had good experience with? I was stepping through the godaddy checkout process, and being opted-in to a dozen different upsell features just left a bad impression. But I have no clue who else to go with. -Eugene -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

Re: unable to access Linux HVM via xm console - Couldnot read tty from store: No such file or directory
HVM = fully virtualized. The question is, why are you using fully virtualized domUs? Why not paravirtualized (PV)? >>> On 2008/06/16 at 16:07, Rudi Ahlers <Rudi@SoftDux.com> wrote: Itamar - IspBrasil wrote: > why you''re using hvm ? its slow > > > > Rudi Ahlers wrote: >> Hi all >> >> I''m running CentOS 5.1 x64 + Xen 3.0 & I

using a Laptop as a KVM console?
Hi all, Has anyone seen something like this before: I want to use a laptop as a KVM console. Basically when a technician goes to one of our datacentres, or clients he has to look for a free LCD, keyboard & mouse to connect to a server (no network access, reinstall, troubleshoot failed kernel / HDD, etc). And then hopefully there's an open power socker in that cabinet. So I'm

how do I find out which nameserver returns a DNS query?
Hi all If I do a "dig mydomain.co.za" from a Linux server, how do I know which DNS nameserver returns the queries? I seem to have a faulty DNS server, but can't see which one, so I want to find out which nameserver (if there's 4 - ns1.myserver, ns2.myserver, ns3.myserver & ns4.myserver) returns the queries? -- Kind Regards Rudi Ahlers CEO, SoftDux Web:

CentOS 6 domU on Debian 6 dom0 not working
Hi all, Has anyone managed to get CentOS 6 domU (i.e. guest) working on a Debian 6 do0? Both OS''s are 32bit and I''m running XEN 4.0.1 with HVM support.
