printconf
Does anyone know of a command line tool for printer configuration for CentOS 5.
I have used "printconf-tui --Xexport > printers.xml" to copy my printer setup in CentOS 4.x
(then Ximport to bring it back), but this no longer works in CentOS 5 and I would really
like to retain this functionality.
Can I re-install this tool or will it not work with the new CUPS?
Is there an

Transferring the printer database
Is there a way to transfer a Samba printer "database" from one version to
another? I tried copying the .tdb files from v2.2.6 to v2.2.8pre1 but it
didn't seem to work. Some sort of upgrade path is needed here - it's a lot
of work to start over if you've got a lot of printers.

Print share using hpoj.
Hello all.
The set up: - Kernel 2.4.18-3
- HP Office Jet K80.
- USB port
- hpoj-0.8 driver
I've been struggling installing and configuring the new driver for Linux/USB printing, due to a couple of silly mistakes.
The question here is are there any differences in setting up a print server using this new driver than the usual

Listers,
I encountered a problem with samba (2.2.7a) when I was setting CUPS (1.1.14)

I set it up through the web interface, setting the appropriate values in
smb.conf:
[global]
<snip>
printing = cups
load printers = yes
printcap name = cups
[printers]
comment = All Printers
path = /var/spool/samba
browseable = no

linuxthreads & Printers in Centos5...
Dear All,
Firstly, many thanks for the hard work put in by the development team :)
Now I have a couple of problems, any help welcome:
1) Some of our software needs linuxthreads (i.e. InsightII) but it's closed
source and the writers (Accelrys) are unlikely to respin the code as they
want us to move to a different program.
Is there any way of installing another set of glibc libs on centos

Function address causes a protection fault.
Hello all.
I'm using a HP Office Jet K80 on a RedHat 7.3, kernel 2.4.18-3, using the USB port and Samba 2.2.3a. I've installed the new driver to support usb printing, namely HPOJ-0.80. I can use lpr <filenames with.ps> and it prints fine, also a test page from printconf-tui is no problem. So the Linux side seems to be fine. When I try set up the printer on the windows machine, I

system-config-network-tui not part of base install... wtf
Who was the genius that decided that system-config-network-tui should
NOT be part of the base CentOS 6.3 install ??
Not to mention it has insane deps like wifi firmware packages... not
really if all you want to do is configure eth0 from the command
line...

Printing to XP printer
I am having a bit of a problem getting my Samba printer configuration to
work with Windows XP(I am running samba on Linux Redhat 7.3). My other
shares seem to work as I can find my files on the my Linux system using XP.
I have used redhat 7.3 kde printer configurations to create the appropriate
files. The result is when I try to send a print job the printer kicks into
to gear but only a blank

Printing:using usb port.
Hello All.
Thanks for the help so far. I've managed to get the 'access denied' error to disappear with the suggestion of 'use client driver = yes'. This worked, Thanks.
By the way, I'm running Samba 2.2.3a
I'm still not printing though. I removed the printers I configured using 'printconf-tui' and added a new local printer device, using /dev/usb. This was

Frustrated with Samba and CUPS
I'm sure you've seen that subject line before....
I can't get Samba (via Swat) to see my CUPS printers at all.
I've tried everything I can think of...the single network-connected printer
is listed in CUPS and I've added it on the command-line (via printconf-tui).
I can send a test page to it from the CUPS web-interface and also through
the printconf-tui interface. I can

Unable to print correctly html on Windows Printer (SMB) Share
Hi All,
After connecting a HP DeskJet 950C printer to my NT Server and configuring it as a share printer, I used samba and printconf to connect to it.
I setup the printer in printconf as a Samba (SMB) Printer/Windows Printer (SMB) Share
After restarting the lpd daemon, I can print successfully the ASCII test page and other linux files, e.g. smb.conf, /etc/fstab, etc.
My problem is that I am unable

job fails to print via samba 2.2.6-pre1 - lpd ASCII a nd postscript test works fine...
Ah, it appears that I have confused myself...
I indeed have ALL of the queues defined as JetDirect with the model
specific driver selected in printconf.
With this combination I am telling linux to modify the job [via the filter]
and then pass it as a RAW [jetdirect] where I SHOULD just have the queue
define as JetDirect with a RAW as the driver and let the job go as
transmitted by the client

Printing with Samba 2.2.5 and lprng
Hello,
Excuse me for my English.
I use an impression (not yet;) and file server samba 2.2.5 on a red hat 7.2.
I try to print starting from a station under Windows 2000 but I obtain the error "the handle is invalid".
I installed the drivers for my impimante on the W2000 station but I would like to also know if the drivers of the printer are necessary for the W2000 workstation AND
