Getting something into centosplus for 5.2?
I've got a USB to serial adapter that I picked up from Radio Shack earlier this year. The updated pl2303 driver is already in the mainstream kernel as per https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=429652 but I'm not getting much traction from Red Hat as far as them updating the kernel. So every time there's an updated kernel, I have to rebuild the srpm. I figure that this is the

dvb modules not in CentOS plus kernel for target=i686
I'm just trying to setup my hauppauge nova-T freeview card under Centos 5. It works on the same hardware under CentOS 4.x using the CentOS plus kernel. Having installed the latest CentOS Plus kernel for CentOS 5.0 (2.6.18-8.1.8.el5.centos.plus) I've found that various kernel modules are missing- specifically dvb_core cx88_dvb and cx22702 that were used by my system under CentOS 4.x

Centos 5.4 kernels for NFS4
Do CentOS 5.4 users still have to use the RedHat preliminary kernels (http://people.redhat.com/jlayton/) for getting a NFSv4 safe kernel or have the patches been incorporated into CentosPlus kernels? Or is kernel-2.6.18-164.3.1.el5 somewhere in the queue? Thanks in advance! GS -- Gerhard Schneider Institute of Lightweight Design and e-Mail: gs at ilsb.tuwien.ac.at Structural

CentOS 5 centosplus kernel + kmod-gfs
On CentOS 5, the current centosplus kernel doesn't want to play with the kmod-gfs package (because kmod-gfs wants the stock kernel): # yum install kmod-gfs gives me: Transaction Check Error: package kernel-2.6.18-8.1.14.el5.centos.plus (which is newer than kernel-2.6.18-8.1.14.el5) is already installed Should it work, or is there a separate centosplus build that I've not

XFS might be available for i686 from the CentOS Plus repository.
Hi, the topic is an excerpt of the 5.4 release notes and raises a question. I have a i386 server here, that has been running for nearly two years with xfs module from extras repo. When lookin at the module it was build against 2.6.18-92.1.13.el5. Question is, is it still safe to use this module with 5.4? Or should I switch back to a CentosPlus kmod and an older kernel? Rainer

3ware performance in CentOS
Have a look at these pages: http://www.bofh-hunter.com/2008/06/13/3ware-performance-in-centos/ https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=444759 I'm comparing the default 5.1 64bit kernel with the patched one posted in the bug report (kernel-2.6.18-53.1.21.el5.bz321111.x86_64) and I don't quite see any significant difference in write performance for this command: dd if=/dev/zero

kernel-vm.i686 5.0-->5.1 "Error: Missing Dependency: kernel-headers is needed by package glibc-headers"
Cough, cough, cough (I have a bit of a cold, please excuse me) Thanks for the great CentOS. I assume the following means I need to humbly ask for the kernel-vm for 5.1, but I am not certain. If so, I hereby humbly ask. --> Running transaction check --> Processing Dependency: kernel-headers for package: glibc-headers --> Processing Dependency: kernel-headers >= 2.2.1 for package:

CentOS 5.2 kernel [2.6.18-92.1.1.el5] crashes on dual-PIII Compaq ProLiant 3000
After yum upgrade, the new CentOS5 kernel [ kernel-2.6.18-92.1.1.el5.i686 ] crashes each time early in boot process on Compaq ProLiant 3000 with dual Pentium3 CPU (600 MHz, CPU0: Intel Pentium III (Katmai) stepping 03, CPU1 the same). I get kernel panic at powernowk8_init+0x05e/0x1c3. The previous kernel [ kernel-2.6.18-53.1.21.el5.i686 ] seems to work fine. I am wondering if anyone has met
