rebuilding firefox-2.0.0.16 from fc8
hello, I started with ftp://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/updates/8/SRPMS/firefox-2.0.0.16-1.fc8.src.rpm with the hope of rebuilding it for el5/centos. All of the dependencies were available (mostly from rpmforge) except one: something called system-bookmarks. I elected to comment out this from the spec, firefox.spec I did the extracts with CPIO rpm2cpio firefox-xxx.src.rpm |

Miredo 1.1.5
I found a src.rpm for 1.1.5-1 for fc8 (not rh8!). I was able to rebuild it on my Centos build system. The rpms are identified as 1.1.5-1.i386.rpm, no el5 or other identification was placed in the files. I don't see how to control this when you rebuild from an existing src.rpm. Interestingly the fc8 designation was lost. I also rebuild it on my fc10 system. It worked, and the rpms have

Script to sync with repo
under 5.6 I have a script that runs every night to rsync the repodata for local installations. I added the 6.0 to do the same. Something seems wrong now for 6.0. I do the same thing and I get errors from my local repo at install time. Seems like the cyrus-sasl package is never happy and aborts the installation. Is something wrong with the script below? It seems like it successfully copies

yum remove iptables problem
Hi Just got a new server replacing another server. I had to use iptables to protect it until I could move a hardware firewall from the old server to the new server. Now I am trying to delete iptables but it wants to delete lots of other dependency packages, e.g. sendmail, cyrus-sasl and even plymouth. Can I just use "force" and "no-dependecies" to get rid of it? Are there

update repo problem?
I'm trying to install the build dependencies for an SRPM using yum-builddep, and it's telling me that it can't get the repo sqlite file for updates-source from vault. Any ideas? Something wrong with my repo configuration? The only thing I've done that should have touched the repo configuration is installing epel-release-7-1.noarch. Thanks! Eric [root at localhost SRPMS]#

missing Rversion.h and Rconfig.h when installing RSQLite under FC8
Hello, I am having problems installing RSQLite under FC8. The error message seems to indicate Rversion.h and Rconfig.h are missing. To illustrate the problem, I have copied below the output shown when I first install R (binary distribution) and then try to install RSQLite. Because the problem does not occur when installing RSQLite with R under Windows I suspect the problem is perhaps due to my

Problem with RHEL 5 repo and the latest R RPMs
Hi everyone -- I have a number of systems here running CentOS 5.2 and 5.3. Recently, I tried adding a package unrelated to R and found that yum is complaining about the R repo. Here's the error I get when running yum update: ---- $ sudo yum update [snip] http://cran.r-project.org/bin/linux/redhat/el5/x86_64/repodata/primary.xml.gz: [Errno -3] Error performing checksum
