choppy audio playback
Oh, wise Centaurs,
On the last install (Suse) I was running on this old notebook (Dell
i600m) the audio worked fine. Specifically, Realplayer and onsite
players (like you get at NPR and other sites) and youtube played just
fine. But with this current install (CentOS 5.3, fully updated) all of
those sources just mentioned play choppy. It's like an echo so severe
that it's impossible to

Glusterfs 2.0 hangs on high load
Hello!
After upgrade to version 2.0, now using 2.0.1, I'm experiencing problems
with glusterfs stability.
I'm running 2 node setup with cliet side afr, and glusterfsd also is
running on same servers. Time to time glusterfs just hangs, i can
reproduce this running iozone benchmarking tool. I'm using patched
Fuse, but same result is with unpatched.

Bug in winealsa.drv? Incredibly specific oddity
I've been struggling desperately to get iGuidance 4 working with Wine and I've come across what seems like an incredibly specific problem.
I've been struggling with the TTS output for the navigation, it just keeps randomly locking up the app, sometimes after a mile, sometimes 30, after figuring out I could debug just the wave classes, I think I've found a clue.
It keeps hanging

With POLLING enabled I experience about 10%-25% performance drop when

PAM authentication problem: MD5 vs crypt
Here's a strange one. I have Dovecot set up on Solaris 9. The auth portion
of the config is straight out of the box. Using PAM. We have most users in
a dbm file which is just a series of key/value pairs: key is a username,
and value is a string equivalent to a shadow entry. nsswitch.conf entry:
passwd files dbm.
For historical reasons, some users have a classic 13-character Unix crypt

Polycom Spectralink 8002 Configuration
I have a new Polycom Spectralink 8002 and am having trouble with the
configuration or the unit but I can't see what's wrong. The unit does
not seem to even attempt to register with the Asterisk proxy but I can
make calls to it. I have viewed the syslog from the device which it
will actually write to the asterisk server so I know it can be reached.
I have also run a sip debug and

CentOS 5 sound problems on ICH5
Hi
I have installed CentOS 5 on my computer which has an Intel ICH5 sound
chip. The card appears as it should, and I can adjust the volume just
fine. However, when I try to play a sound file(.ogg for instance),
rhythmbox plays through the file, but no sound is heard. I've tried as
root, and I've tried doing cat /dev/urandom > /dev/dsp, and it's all quiet.
Output from lspci:

quick question re: smb.conf parameters
Ok, I know this is a stupid question but im having problems with some shares
and so I have to ask:
Are share parameters specified within the [global] section used as defaults
for my other shares, or are they ignored?
For example, if I set
veto oplock files = /*.DBM/*.dbm/
within the [global] section, will that trickle down to my shares if I don't
have "veto oplock files"

I need to set up the sound card of a server to use in an overhead paging

slightly different Hardware).

source.

FW: IA64 test report: 2.6.8-rc1 /tiger 2004-7-20: Boot Hang!
Originally, the test is on a tiger with RHEL installed. The fs is ext3 as default.
Then the oops came up.
I've installed the test kernel on another tiger with Suse, reiserfs as default.
The kernel can boot successfully without any trouble.
Is it a known issue? Or what causes this happen?
thanks,
-zhen
