Python 2.4 on CentOS4?
Hi, Has anyone managed to find a Python 2.4 rpm binary that can be installed on CentOS4? I'm running CentOS4.6 and an application that I want to use required python 2.4 or greater. All the CentOS/RHEL4 python rpms that I find are all for python 2.3. I can't seem to find anything that works with CentOS4 libs. Thanks! Eric

Question
I read everything I could get my hands on. Windows domain user authenticates into linux. RHEL4.6 looks at the AD for authentication and allows them to see the samba shared folders. Using winbind and samba. Now that it is functioning and I can set a samba shared folder , HOW do I make that folder so that only the members in a certain group can see the folder. Seems everyone can see it,

Attach CDROM to windows
Hi Guys, Now I am using Xen-4.0.0. I need to attach CDROM from ISO files to vitual machines when they are running. The VMs contain RHEL4.6, Windows Server 2003 32bit and Windows Server 2006 64bit. Need to restart ypserv to update the nis maps
Hi I use NIS om my network (CentOS4.6). When an update on a map occurs (home directory changed in /etc/passwd for instance), I run make -C /var/yp/ and check the result on a client. On the client I use "ypcat passwd" and find indeed that the update has propagated (the clients run ypbind service). On the client I have configured /etc/nsswitch.conf with : passwd: files nis shadow:

Append line size limit in syslinux 3.72
Hi, Is there still a known limit of 255 characters of the append line in syslinux (isolinux) from the config file ? A quick test showed me that when the APPEND line in the config-file is longer than 255 characters it arrives truncated in Linux. While typing more than 255 characters on the commandline does not cause the same issue and in Linux the kernel commandline exceeds the 255 character

Server 2008 and Samba 3.0.25b
Hi Folks - I'm experiencing a very strange problem with Server 2008 machines (for all intents and purposes related to Samba, it's Vista) connecting to a Samba Server. The Samba machine is a RHEL4.6 machine running Samba 3.0.25b. I am joined to the mixed mode AD domain via the command "net rpc join -U administrator <domain>". I am not using winbind or kerberos. Or

CENTOS4.6+SAMBA3.0.25+FEDORA-DS
Hi I am new to linux & Samba. I would like to setup Samba as a domain controller and using Fedora-ds for authentication. I have read some documents from www.samba.org but I am still in the mist. Here is my dumb questions about Samba as follows. 1. Is CENTOS4.6+SAMBA3.0.25 as PDC +FEDORA-DS possible? 2. Is this HOWTO from

Strange performance issues under CentOS 5.1
I am still running CentOS 4.6 on our production systems, but I am starting to plan the upgrade to CentOS 5.1. I have one test system running 5.1 that is the exact same hardware configuration as my 4.6 test system. One of our builds runs about 6 times slower on the 5.1 system, even though is uses less overall CPU time. I first suspected something wrong with the disk, but the results

Differences in CentOS and RHEL systems
Hi, I was looking at the differences between the CentOS and RHEL systems, found that tuned profile is different for these OSes. I have gone through RHEL 7 Performance Tuning Guide to see if there are more such changes, sysctl settings change which are due to tuned profile and did not find any other differences Also took diff of /etc/* config files on RHEL and CentOS installed systems, there are

[Regression] SVN r244198 broke double-quotes in /etc/sysctl.conf*
Hi all, It appears as though SVN r244198 introduced a regression. One that is affecting HEAD and stable/10 (for upcoming 10.0-R) and was introduced 10 months ago (but does not appear to have made it into 9.x yet or even stable/9). The regression introduced by r244198 is that: Whilst "sysctl -f /etc/sysctl.conf" will parse parameters with quoted values... "service sysctl

systemd-sysctl not running on boot
Hey all, After upgrading to CentOS 7.2, non of my servers run systemd-sysctl on boot. So far, I tried running manually /usr/lib/systemd/systemd-sysctl, it runs smoothly and updates all the parameters. I also ran sysctl --system, which also executes successfully. I checked within systemd, and systemd-sysctl is wanted by the sysinit.target which is wanted by the multi-user.target - the one I boot

For some work i override this file by doign File[''/etc/sysctl.conf''] and i have an exec refresh only to run sysctl -p so it reread the sysctl.conf file if changed. My issue is that at each run i got, i start in state when i see the overriden one on the server: 1st run, i have the basic sysctl.conf not the ovveriden one
