YUM error "can't create transaction lock"
A short while ago I reported a network interruption while
performing a YUM update on a server. A check of the logs as
recommended by a list member indicated that the update process had
succeeded. However, I am now encountering the following problem on
that same server and my nastily suspicious mind is trying to tell
me that the previous event and this situation are somehow related.

OT: YUM, RPM and PGP keys
A short time ago a message on this list referred to an OSS project called
ledgersmb. I am having a deal of difficulty getting this installed and as the
web page at www.ledgersmb.org yields a "page not found" error and the
ledger-smb-users mailing list seems very lightly used I wonder if someone here
could help me out?
I have ploughed through all of the perl dependencies for ledgersmb

CentOS-5.3 yum-priorites
I visited http://wiki.centos.org/PackageManagement/Yum/Priorities

extras. I try this and it fails.

NIC traffic monitoring, recording and reporting software?
I have a remote CentOS-5.3 installation that shares traffic with
another enterprise. I want to record and measure the actual network
traffic that comes into and goes out of that host's net i/f on a
monthly basis for billing verification purposes. Does CentOS have a
software package to accomplish this?
I have run across references to a package called vnstat as a
possible answer to my

Problem with yum
I am experiencing a problem with yum on one of my CentOS-5.5
systems. Specifically, on Friday past (July 16), I ran yum update
as root. Yum displayed all of the outdated packages and asked if I
wanted to proceed. An answered yes. This first package downloaded
was nss. At this point yum simply stopped processing or responding.
A ctrl-c at the yum session terminal window did not interrupt the

Help with yum and cpio: MD5 sum mismatch
I am trying to install Ruby-1.8.7p302 on a CentOS-5.5 server in
preparation for a Rails-3 application deployment. I have downloaded
the source from Rubyforge.org, unpacked it, and ran ./config and
make. Everything built without error. I then ran checkinstall to
create an rpm package. That too completed without error.
However, when I try to install the resulting package using:

Because Linux-land is a bazaar and Apple-land is a cathedral. You
cannot have consistency at the user level without stability at the OS
and application framework level. That is simply not going to happen
with FOSS.

yum cannot find bittorent rpm at dag
I am trying to get the x86_64 isos of CentOS-5.2. I wish to use
bittorrent. The last time that I did this I required the bittorent
package from Dag's repository. I have configured
/etc/yum.repos.d/DagWieers.repo thus:
[dag]
name=Dag Wieers RPM Repository for Red Hat Enterprise Linux

yum update problem - dependancy problem
You have a conflicting package installed from repository @atrpms. You
need to remove that package and/or disable that repository to get past
the dependency issue. 'Skip broken' is not going to handle this
situation nor will any other set of yum options.

Note: As a digest subscriber the favour of a direct reply is
requested in addition to the list.
I had a network connection interrupted while running yum update on

Subsequently I reconnected and now yum reports that there is
nothing to do:

Problems with yum/rpm and %pre scriptlet error 255
I am running xen (2.6.16-xen3_86.1_rhel4.1) on top of a stock CentOS-4.4
installation. I have not added any additional virtual machines however.
When trying to install (as root) acrobat reader 7 for Linux from the adobe

? has mib:::udp[In/Out]Datagrams been superceded by mib:::udpHC[In/Out]Datagrams
Hi,
Looking at some udp stuff on snv_57, and I noticed that
mib:::udpInDatagrams no longer exists, has this been superceded by
mib:::udpHCInDatagrams?
From my understanding they represent the same counter, but I''m asking
in case this is a bug. I noticed that there is still a reference to
udpInDatagrams in the DTrace testsuite.

DVD-RAM writer software for CentOS4
Firstly, let me thank all of the individuals who assisted me in
various matters regarding find, tar and ssh last week. Your
contributions were truly invaluable and I learned a great deal
thereby. The reason for that brief flurry of activity was an
administrative and technical move to store-to-disc from store-to-tape
for our server backups.
We presently use a mix of store to disc on

The project has been forked, not superceded.
Work on OggPCM is continuing, the team working on OggPCM2 is free to submit
their own draft but some are not welcome to continue work on OggPCM due to
their recent social conduct.
