IP addressing migration
Hi, I am changing the IP addressing in my centOS server which works as mail server. The question I have is, if I define the new IP addresses (sub-interfaces) on the server, can I work with both ranges at the same time despite I have only one default gateway configured? (on the old range) Or may I have two default gateways in centOS? --Ivan.

Problems Printing w/ Caldera OpenServer
I am having problems getting Samba configured so I can print. I am going from Windows XP to Samba. I don't get any error messages in Windows saying that there is a problem. It sends the document then that is it. It is like the document gets lost. I am able to print through Linux and WebMin. What should I look at next? I am using the latest version of Caldera OpenServer. I believe the version

Clarifying CUPS Printing
We have been using CUPS to handle printing and have run into some "features" some of which a fresh install of the responsible server will probably fix. However there are some disparities between the documentation and our practical experience for which a clear statement would help others. The docs state when using CUPS the relevent lines of SMB.CONF should look like this: printing=cups

Cups printers troubles
Ok... here we go, I have a server running RH 7.3, samba 2.2.3a, and CUPS 1.1.14. All the printers we have are networked printers sitting off of Linksys printservers. On this server I am sharing all off our printers out via Samba. See my smb.conf file below. This server works perfectly. All printers are shared out successfully. Primary CUPS server: [global] workgroup = NEW

mksmbpasswd.sh and passwd sync problems...
Hello Everyone! I've spent quite a bit trying to get these shares to work just right. I'll past the output of my smb.conf at the end of this message. If anyone has any advice on this, that would be great. My first problem is that I'm trying to sync up my /etc/passwd with the /etc/samba/smbpasswd file. (I'm using Mandrake 9.0 and Samba 2.2.6-1.0.pre2.2.mdk. Mandrake puts the

Printing - "lprm command" not getting executed
I am attempting to get printing services for Windows 2000 clients working with Samba on a Red Hat 7.2 box. The problem is I can not cancel print jobs (either from a PC or the local smb client). File sharing, and printing other than this problem, work fine. Here is a listing of configuration and system info: 1) the samba packages installed, 2) output of "uname -a", 3) the

what causes CUPS to dis-enable a printer?
In our computer lab, there are 6 Centos 5.4 workstations. There is an HP printer with jet direct card. It often works. But sometimes users come and get me saying the printer is broken, but it is actually working fine for *most* of the workstations. On the troubled system, I run system-config-printer and I check the printer in question (under properties) and I see the printer has been disabled.

Slow Samba Printer initialisation, status, and printing
OK, I have been wrestling with this for two weeks now, so somebody please help ! We have an existing Samba Print Server, running RedHat linux, kernel 2.2.19, that runs fine, but is a P133 with 64 mb ram. So we built a new PC, the slowest thing we could buy, a duron 1 ghz with 512 mb RAM. Old printer server is running Samba 2.2.5, new printer server is running samba 2.2.5, and Slackware 8.1,

Controlling unix print queues from PC
I'm running Samba 2.0.3 from the pre-built binary (ftp://sunsite.org.uk/packages/samba/Binary_Packages/solaris/samba-2.0.3 -sunos-4.1.3.tar.Z) on a Sun IPX with SunOS 4.1.3_U1. I've defined a printer in smb.conf, from a PC (NT 4.0) I can send prints to it and view the queue OK but I can't manage the queue in any way. Attempts to cancel prints and stop or start the queue from the PC

lprm command not getting called.
I have configured Samba on both a RH Linux 7.2 box and Solaris 8 box and am not able to remove print jobs. The lprm command is not getting called. I know that for a fact because I changed lprm command to equal a script which will log when it is called. And that script is never called. There are no errors in any log files - system or samba. The printing parts of the smb.conf file are:

Problem with job removal
Hi, We've been stuck with this problem for a while now and we believe I tried enough potential solutions to justify my posting here. We're using samba 3.0.14a in Sarge in order to allow printing from Windows workstations (The authentication works with AD+Kerberos+Winbind) to a set of shared printers. Printing works perfectly but we would like to allow users to have control over the jobs
