I was wondering if that RPM includes the security fixes detailed in

A couple of security questions
Hello, I'd like to ask a couple of things:
1) I would like to move from Debian to CentOS.
One thing I will probably miss is the debsecan tool.
This utility sends me a mail whenever there is a change regarding the
vulnerabilities' status on my system.
It lists new ones, resolved ones and current ones.
Is there anything similar for CentOS?
2) I read that RHEL packages are compiled with

Looking for a SSMTP alternative
Hello all, since the default repositories (base, updates, addons,
extras) don't have a package for SSMTP I'm looking for another small
and simple MTA.
What do you suggest? Should I just stick with Exim?
Thanks for reading,

how to upgrade gtk on centos 4.8
Hello,
My centos is 4.8 while I need gtk 2.8 or later. How to upgrade GTK?
I'm trying to upgrade manually based on RPMs on 5.X, there are too many decencies when upgrading libX.
Is there anybody can give some suggestion to enlighten me? Thanks.

DNS Server and SQL backend

I think most people here use BIND as their DNS server of choise.
I just happen to have updated DLZ patch for the current bind version.
DLZ patch allows you to use mysql (pgsql, ldap etc) as a backend for
zone storage. I make no garantees, of course, but if anyone is interested
on the patch (with or without the specfile for rpm building), please

libgtkhtml-editor
Guys/Gals:
On 64bit 6.5, I've had to "yum remove" the Xiphos package because it was
causing errors in "yum update", complaints about it requiring libgtkhtml-editor.
I've had Xiphos installed since I installed 6.x almost a year ago, and it
has worked fine for me.
recently yum is complaining about this issue, and I can't figure it out.
there doesn't appear to

php versions
Got a question with centos/rhel php versions. because in centos 3 they're
still using 4.3.2 and centos 4 which uses 4.3.9. how about the bugfixes done
in 4.4 and 4.4.1? centos/rhel updates regularly like centos 3 which already
updated for 6 times but still uses 4.3.2? is that mean we still suffer the
bugs of the original 4.3.2?

Yum Dependency errors
Greetings,
This is a new install on CentOs 4.1 dvd from a couple weeks ago. The
initial yum updates worked fine but now There are about 15 things that
get dependency errors and yum will not
install the updates. Rebuild the RPM database, removed
/var/cache/yum/* , yum update yum for the latest version and the
errors still exist. When you query the rpm database the dependency are
installed.

Taking advantage of SIMD
After creating a simple decoder for theora using liboggz i started profiling. As someone else stated in the lists the conversion from yuv 2 rgb takes a significant time. I decided to go on the way of SIMD not shaders because SIMD is supported on a wider range of computers. I managed to strip out the yuv 2 rgba conversion code from liboggplay but it seems i am missing something. It runs but the

Any advantage of running 32bit dom0?
I just inherited a server that has dual quad core Xeons and 16 gigs of RAM
running RHEL5. When I started to kick the tires of the server I noticed the
dom0 was the 32bit version of RHEL5.
My question.. aside from being able to run full virtualization (for Windows
and unmodified Linux domUs) is there any compelling reason to install the
64bit version of RHEL5 if I''m only going to run

[LLVMdev] Any optimization advantage to making a type-accurate vtable?
Here's another odd question I've been wondering about:
Typically a class vtable is an represented as an array of function
pointers. Now, since the functions all have different calling
signatures, I imagine that you would generate an array of opaque
pointers, and then bitcast the pointer to the actual function signature
at the call site.
However, that's not what I am doing.

Windows Genuine Advantage checker
Is there a way to run The WindowsGenuineAdvantage.exe?
i tried it with Wine 0.9.29 and it crashed.
What I really wanted to do was run the WindowsVistaAdvisor.msi,
That proceeded and I got the .NET stuff downloaded and installed, but It
wanted IE version 5.5 or something.
I think if the fake IE stuff in Wine should have made that last step above
unecessary?
Any ideas?
Thanks.
