Intel ICH9R Raid5 Recovery
I had a raid5 on an onboard Intel ICH9R chip under windows. Windows crashed, as it often does, and the array became degraded. At some point during the rebuild, I was doing some hardware maintanence and unplugged one of the drives, and forgot to plug it back in. When I booted up, the array came back as failed. I turned off the PC, plugged the drive back in and powered it back on, but the

deleting FakeRaid -> what happens to the partitions/data
Hi A server has FakeRAID installed, I want to remove it to make it mdadm driven .... If I delete the FakeRAID including - disabling it in the BIOS - removing the dmraid driver from initrd - deleting all meta data from partitions - deleting all dmraid packages is the data still available on the drives, i.e. the partitions, filesystem and files are still ok? I know that FakeRAID controller

getting dmraid to use klibc
[please CC me on replies, I'm not subscribed] Hi, I'm trying to get dmraid 1.0.0rc9 [0] to compile with --enable-klibc, however I have some troubles with mkfifo defined in /usr/lib/klibc/include/sys/stat.h. /usr/lib/klibc/include/sys/stat.h: In function 'mkfifo': /usr/lib/klibc/include/sys/stat.h:28: error: 'S_IFMT' undeclared (first use in this function) after

chainboot Windows on second drive
Hi, I'm new to the list. I've replaced grub by extlinux to multi boot my system. Now, I can't manage to boot one of my systems. I have 5 hard drives, 3 of them being part of a raid0 array, and one of them being here for backup purposes (can be removed). So the total 'logical' drives number is 2. First drive: - primary partition holding a rescue Windows XP system (ntfs) -

Slightly OT: FakeRaid or Software Raid
I have had great luck with nvidia fakeraid on RAID1, but I see there are preferences for software raid. I have very little hands on with full Linux software RAID and that was about 14 years ago. I am trying to determine which to use on a rebuild in a "standard" CentOS/Xen enviroment. It seems to me that while FakeRaid is/can be completely taken care of in dom0 dmraid whereas with

CentOS 5 Dual Drive Confusion
I performed a test install of CentOS Beta 5 on a system with two ~60 GB drives. When installing CentOS 4 on this system, I normally work thru setting up Software RAID with identically sized partitions on each drive. For my test, the CentOS installer only presented a single drive. I took the default of letting it do what it wanted. After looking over the system I have verified that /boot is

LSI SATA MegaRaid & Centos 7 build 1511
It's fakeRAID but I do not know why there's no LSI cards in lspci output !! To manage the disks; I have to use the LSI Sata Megaraid fireware; so is there any hope to install Centos 7 on this H/W? I have three servers from this model and I was planning to use them as test environment for me. Is there any way to rebuild kernel drivers or by pass boot parameter dmraid=yes while installing

In your original message, you indicated that this was a PCI card, but it looks like this is just a firmware component of your motherboard. I think you should assume that this firmware is unsupported. Set your SATA mode

Centos 6.5 Xen Stock cannot run dom-u PCI: Fatal: - ipmi_si
I had a supermicro server SuperServer 1027R-WRF4+ and a old Dell PowerEdge 2950. In both machines I setup centos 6.5, which is running 3.10.34-11.el6.centos.alt.x86_64. I follow Xen4Cen wiki to setup Xen, I had other servers running Centos 5.x without issues. Now, once I build my vm's dom-u centos 6.5/centos 5.9 both x64, I receive different erros, let me show u the message I receive in my

Domain0 with Kernel 2.6.18-92.1.22.el5xen fails to boot Guests with Kernel 2.6.18-164.el5xen
Hi all, I am in a bit of a fix here, I have several Guests paravirtualized running on a Dom0 that is currently running the 2.6.18-92.1.22.el5xen Kernel. All my guests (administered by different people) have subsequently been updated to later versions of the kernel (namely 2.6.18-164.el5xen or 2.6.18-128.4.1.el5xen). Ones that are still running are using the Kernel 2.6.18-128.4.1.el5xen while

Network problems on new CentOS 5 install on P35, ICH9R mobo
Had to replace dying cpu and mobo, so also replaced IDE with new SATA drive. Installed from latest ISO onto SATA and can't get networking to lease an IP address from my ISP (Comcast). The network utility always comes up with a private address (192.168.0.2) instead of Comcast IP. To add to confusion, if I boot into old IDE drive, I get proper network connection to internet, but lose my

mdraid doesn't allow creation: device or resource busy
Dear fellow CentOS users, I have never experienced this problem with hard disk management before and cannot explain it to myself on any rational basis. The setup: I have a workstation for testing, running latest CentOS 7.3 AMD64. I am evaluating oVirt and a storage-ha as part of my bachelors thesis. I have already been running a RAID1 (mdraid, lvm2) for the system and some oVirt 4.1 testing.

LVM problem after adding new (md) PV
Hello, I have a weird problem after adding new PV do LMV volume group. It seems the error comes out only during boot time. Please read the story. I have couple of 1U machines. They all have two, four or more Fujitsu-Siemens SAS 2,5" disks, which are bounded in Raid1 pairs with Linux mdadm. First pair of disks has always two arrays (md0, md1). Small md0 is used for booting and the rest - md1

RAID support in kernel?
Hello. I'm setting up a computer that will run 'CentOS 6 server'. The MB is an Asus with a hw raid controller (Promise PDC-20276), which I want to use in RAID-1 mode. I noted (from a MB website) that it also needs a driver - which is probably why it's called a 'fakeraid'. So, I've been trying to determine if any recent kernels support this chip. Using

IHC7 RAID-1 or Kernel Software RAID-1?
I'm just setting up a SuperMicro system which has twin SATA disks on an Intel IHC7 RAID-capable controller. The system came with Fedora 5 pre-installed, which I will be removing and replacing with CentOS 4.5. But before doing so, I've been having a look at how the original vendor configured it. When I've built systems previously, I've disabled any RAID controller and used kernel

C5: prevent loading of AHCI in favor of "fakeraid" megaide
Hi, I'm trying to install an old fujitsu siemens econel 50 server. It uses an Intel chipset with ICH6R sata subsystem known as fakeraid. I have configured a Raid 1 with two 160GB hds. FS and Intel both provide a driver called megaide on a driver disk to use fakeraid and here is the problem: - The readme tells me to install with the "nostorage" kernel option and I can load the

Fortunately I was starring at the screen during an upgrade and 'caught' the following set of messages. It is hard to remember what I installed fuse for, I think for webdav. My system has a ipw3945 pci card, wireless is working. Here are the messages: Uninstalling: fuse 2.7.4-1.nodist.rf (2.6.18-92.1.17.el5) (i686) -------- Uninstall Beginning -------- Module: fuse Version:
