ltsp kernel crash
Hi, I've been using pxe-enabled nic's with an lzpxe-etherboot image generated by rom-o-matic.net to boot a ltsp.org kernel, with dhcp 3 to use if statements to determine which filename option he gives to the pxe/etherboot dhcp client.Explained at http://www.ltsp.org/documentation/pxe.howto.html This works perfectly, except for the fact that you can't use 1 etherboot pxe image for

pxelinux fron Floppy disk?
Hi there, we are using a couple of Diskless Linux Workstations in conjunction with PXE capabable Network cards to boot the system. This works fine using pxelinux. However, there are a few workstations left, which are not able to boot via PXE and thus this workstations need a Kernel on a floppy disk and an additional initrd image. The Problem with is, that both of them don't fit on a floppy

Anyone got Diskless BOOT working under CentOS ???
Im trying to get a diskless boot set up under CentOS 5.2, and having no luck at all. I am to the point of running system-config-netboot, and whatever information I put in, I get an error message. Responding to the 2nd button on the first popup, which asks for NFS info, I put in the IP address of the current machine (the machine that will hold the boot images for the diskless machine) and the

Diskless client from system-config-netboot doesn't boot.
Hi folks, I've followed a set of instructions I found on http://www.linuxtopia.org/online_books/centos_linux_guides/centos_enterprise_linux_sysadmin_guide/ch-diskless.htmli which describes using system-config-netboot to set up PXE booting. I used a CentOS-4.3 install (custom, all options de-selected, then anaconda-busybox installed after the fact) as a reference/base. I followed the

Debugging gPXE -> PXELinux -> LTSP
Hi, I'm investigating using LTSP for thin clients at my place of work, and I've encountered a problem that I don't know how to approach. I don't know if the problem is with gPXE, PXELinux, or the LTSP kernel, but I think PXELinux is probably the right level to investigate it. My situation is as follows: I've installed the LTSP system from Ubuntu Gutsy. I've tested it

Booting Diskless Workstations
I made a post in the Fedora list that didn't yield much help regarding this. I need to use a CentOS5.1 server to remotely boot a few Fedora 9 workstations. I have the option of using straight PXE, or even reflashing gPXE to the LOM for the clients. What I am interested in knowing is the best approach to this. 1. Should I just do iSCSI backed diskless setups? Probably doesn't scale well.

CentOs6 - Ltsp
Dear All, I'm sending this mail in relation to a post on the CentOs 6 forum : https://www.centos.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=32545&start=0#forumpost139559 CentOs 6 works great so far, and I do not want to sound impatient, but I'm eager to find out when Ltsp would be available on CentOs6 - or even in Rhel6. We now use Kiwi-Ltsp on OpenSuse and

2 DHCP server in one subnet
Hello all, In the network there is already a W2K server serving as DHCP server for the network. Then we want to implement LTSP, so we need to setup another DHCP server, right? Due to unexpected reason (little by little migration of w98 clients to LTSP), we need to keep the W2K server running in that network. Can we then have 2 DHCP server in the same subnet, only serving pre-determine clients

Firefox, Flash and Java on CentOS 4.1 x86-64
First of all, I just want to say *again* how happy I am with CentOS. Across our boxes and our clients boxes, we're running it on more than 20 machines at the moment and it's by far the most painless OS to administer in detail that I've ever used. (Of course, I'm an old Slak hat, but ...) Thanks so much to the community and the maintainers. We've recently run into a problem

CentOS6 and netboot
Is there any chance the system-config-netboot* rpms upstream removed from CentOS6 could be provided in extras? The CentOS5 SRPM builds cleanly under CentOS6, and upstream's workaround is insufficient as it only covers diskless clients, not helpful if you need pxeos.

Multimedia setup for LTSP
Hi all, I'm setting up a CentOS 4 in AMD64 box. The goal is to mount a terminal server with LTSP software. Currenlty I'm in troubles with the multimedia support. I've added Dag's, Karanbir's and Dries' repositories according that. ?Is there some intention to make a multimedia group as others groups (FTP Server, Web Server... etc)? It would be great. ?What packages do you
