replace a few strings in a text file
Dear all, I wrote a wrapper to a FORTRAN program using R. The main program uses a text file (~200 lines) as an input describing the simulation to be run. I typically generate the file once with the right parameters using a combination of file(), paste(), cat(). This is fine, and it works well, however I then need to update only a few values in the file many times (~200 times,

Theme wanted for new Rails CMS
Hi all, I just finished building a CMS (open source, MIT license, same as RoR) that is aimed at people with portfolios: graphic designers, photographers, web developers, etc. Since this fits the Rails demographic well, and I plan to continue actively developing the project, I expect it to be a hit. Some features: * 100% semantic XHTML * Built on Ruby on Rails * AJAXified administration *

Prototype error - iterator is not a function
I''m starting to learn to use Prototype (v1.5.1.1) along with Mootools. However I keep bumping into the same problem: All of the inserts result in the error "iterator is not a function" at line 542 of Prototype memo = iterator(memo, value, index); Am I missing something obvious here? I''m wondering if there''s an incompatibility between Prototype and Domino

footnote:id, colons and jquery
I just received a [bug report] for Python-Markdown complaining that colons are used in the ids of footnotes. For reference, we [output] the same format at PHP Markdown Extra. The general complaint is that the colon in the id attribute (`id="fnref:1"`) causes jquery to choke when referencing that id from javascript because jquery uses colons to indicate pseudo elements (as does CSS). horizontal space/indent and HTML/PDF
What is the best method to introduce horizontal space in text in a Pandoc document? Preferably something that would work for both HTML and PDF output? Spacewalk? Local repo? Cache?
I have a mix of CentOS 5, 6, and now 7 servers at work. There are enough of them now that it is starting to make sense for them to get updates from an internal source. I've seen RHN Satellite in years past. It looks like it may be a way to allow Windows admins here (familiar with WSUS) to update Linux boxes. A local repo might be easier to set up, but (as with Spacewalk) it seems like

Yo solo quiero

Error in formatDL(nm, txt, indent = max(nchar(nm, "w")) + 3)
Hello: I tried "debug(help)" with the problem mentioned below. Error in formatDL(nm, txt, indent = max(nchar(nm, "w")) + 3)
It happens in the fda package because some of the headers are longer than typical (e.g., "Repository/R-Forge/DateTimeStamp") and formatDL dies if the indent argument is too large compared to the width argument. It might be nice to change formatDL so it never gave such an error, but did something reasonable when the 'indent' argument was too big. Changing if (indent >
