text rather than html help in Windows
I would like to use Rterm in Windows XP and have the help files appear in text format in the terminal rather than in the html popup window. For example, I would like to enter help(lm) and get the text to appear in the terminal window. Can anyone suggest a way to do this? Thanks and Happy Hew Year. Tom -- View this message in context:

A questiong about replacing my failing drive
First, I am not a RedHat or linux newbie. I simply have not had to do what I am getting ready to do, and I want to see if I am going to run into a problems... My HDA drive is failing (I can hear the occasional click from it and I am seeing Smart errors, the transfer rate is slow but all my data is there). I have 3 partitions on it, the /, /boot/ and my game servers (this is also the drive the

libvirt/qemu and cgroups
Dear list, I am building a Arch server on my Arch box. My tools are QEMU/KVM and libvirt to manage the guest, systemd as system manager. I am looking at implementing the Linux Control Groups facilities for resource management. Even after long hours of reading, I am not quite sure about how to deal with the cgroups facilities. First, do I really need to care about all that, or libvirt and

[libnbd PATCH 2/4] copy: rename <purpose>_OPTION to OPT_<purpose>
Rename <purpose>_OPTION to OPT_<purpose> for two reasons: - it is more idiomatic for enum constants to have the same prefix than for them to have the same suffix, - we hew away three characters (length-wise) from each option name, which happens to reduce the max width of "copy/main.c" to 79 characters. anchor names from headers (Setext and atx)?
It would be useful if defining headers (either Setext and atx style), if Markdown would also generate corresponding anchors: ## This is an H2 ## would create: <a name="This is an H2"/> <h2>This is an H2</h2> Or something like that. Or is that available some different way? Thanks, Jeremy C. Reed

Class dependency question
So I have two classes for openvz setup. The first is openvz::setup and it sets up the box for OpenVZ.. then another class (in same .pp file) called openvz::master sets up the config for the main system (as opposed to a VE). The error I see is that the openvz::master class is executed (and fails) becuase it doesn''t seem to load up the setup class? debug: Calling puppetmaster.getconfig

attribute blocks for definition lists
Hello, As I am using markdown to write documentation, I am often tempted to make links to terms in definition lists. Since this is not possible for now (at least in php markdown extra), I was wondering if this could be a common addition in major implementation supporting definition lists. the syntax would be term {#id} : definition This syntax tries to follows current convention and

Puppet Demo at ETRADE
I had some questions come up today during the Puppet demo here: 1. Is there any way to apply different intervals to different classes? For example, we might want a security baseline manifest to run once a month, package installation files once/day, etc. Since we''re a brokerage, we also don''t want ANY system changes during trading hours. I guess we could cron killing the

puppet node clean using SQLite instead of PuppetDB
I have a node that has some bad stored configs (namely the wrong ssh host keys) that I''m trying to clear out. Looking around it seems I''m supposed to do: puppet node clean foo.example.com However, that keeps bailing out because it''s trying to open a SQLite3 db where stored configs are normally kept, but my stored configs are kept in puppetdb (http://pastie.org/7814483

While I empathize with your predicament, I generally prefer not to have expletives in my inbox. Also, what has this to do with markdown? Samba as a PDC with LDAP and Kerberos
I'm a little confused on one section here... Where are your passwords being stored? kerberos? If so, how does samba look there? What is the significance of the {SASL}USER at REALM in LDAP? Is there another password store that you are syncing with krb? Sorry for my ignorance here but after hours and hours of trying different things, I'm unable to use my kerberos backend with samba.

OpenVZ configuration of networking with puppet - big crash
I am trying to streamline the current distribution specific setup and creation of VE''s within OpenVZ with puppet. My first attempt has gone horribly wrong as you will see below. Here''s the script I wrote to replace the redhat specific setup that OpenVZ used: [jleggett@lxp6d15m3 scripts]$ cat redhat-add_ip.sh #!/bin/bash # # Debug - take out later set -x
