utmp and 2.2.3a
Hi,
Samba 2.2.3a release notes say that utmp is fixed in this version.
But doesn't seem to be working with me. I have few of my shares enables
with this option and 'utmp directory' is set globally. Am I missing
something here ? or this still remains a bug ?
regards
Amit

transfer interrupted (code 3) at flist.c(812)
Ok, I just setup the log file and this is what I see there:
rsync on cdrive/Temp/pix.log from admx (141.214.137.139)
transfer interrupted (code 3) at flist.c(812)
I had to change [cdrive] from path = "c:\" to path = c: to get rid of
'@ERROR: chdir failed' error.
I am getting close but still need some help. Thanks in advance.

rsync : old file dates generating error during nfs rsync session: Value Too large for defined data type
I was troubleshooting a problem we were having with some files not rsyncing
properly over an nfs mount (the destination device is a snapserver (NAS)
that did not have native ability to receive streaming rsync info, that's why
we were doing this rsync over an NFS connection to the snapserver).
Anyway, at first I thought this was just one of the quirks of the snapserver

Interpreting lm Residuals...
I am using the lm function in R to fit several linear models to a
fair-sized dataset (~160 collections of ~1000 data points each). My
data have intrinsic, systematic uncertainty much greater than the
measurement errors on any individual point. My thought is to use the
residuals of my linear fits to quantify this intrinsic uncertainty, but
I am puzzled over the correct interpretation of R's

Win2k clients and PDC
Hi,
We have Samba 2.2.6(+2.2.7 security patch) installed on solaris.
Samba is used as PDC for WinNT and Win2K clients. The WinNT machines have
no problems geting into the domain as machine trust accounts exist in
/etc/passwd and smbpasswd file. However, Win2k clients are not able to
join the domain. I did go through the documentation, and hence created
root account in 'smbpasswd'

addriver
Hi,
I am using samba with NT 4.0 and Solaris. I got LPRng working with
Samba. But, downloading of drivers from the server still deosn't work. Do
I *need* to user rpcclient to install drivers on server ?
I have already copied drivers to $print/W32X86 directory. I tried
using rpcclient with adddriver command. But it gave following errors.
rpcclient $> adddriver "Windows NT x86"

RWeka and naiveBayes
Hi
I'm trying to use RWeka to use a NaiveBayes Classifier(the Weka
version). However it crashes whenever there is a NA in the class
Gender
Here is the.code I have with d2 as the data frame.
The first call to NB doesn't make R crash but the second call does.
NB <- make_Weka_classifier("weka/classifiers/bayes/NaiveBayesSimple")
d2[,64]<-d2$Gender=="M"

Samba solaris 8 package with Windows 2008 support?
Hi-
I am running Samba 2.2.8 on Solaris 8. Our Windows team has upgraded Windows 2003 servers Active Directory to Windows 2008. Samba is not working now. Can someone suggest the best
Samba version for Solaris 8 that I can upgrade to that will support the new Windows 2008 authentication mechanism.
Thanks

Printing Problem with NT and Samba
Hi,
My network has samba 2.2.2 installed on Sun with lprng and NT 4.0
workstations.
Samba acts as PDC for these workstations. I am using priting through
samba. I am using 'disable spoolss = yes' option which means the drivers
are on installed on client side and are not downloaded from the server. So
all these printers (on Samba) act as Local printers on NT machines. As I

Inaccurate complex arithmetic of R (Matlab is accurate)
Dear All,
Hans Borchers and I have been trying to compute "exact" derivatives in R using the idea of complex-step derivatives that Hans has proposed. This is a really, really cool idea. It gives "exact" derivatives with only a minimal effort (same as that involved in computing first-order forward-difference derivative).
Unfortunately, we cannot implement this in R as the

Writing to a file with fixed precision
Dear R users;
A follow-up question regarding writing to a file with fixed precision:
Assuming for each column of x, I would like to have a different format, then I modify the code as:
x.fmt <- apply(x, 1, function(x) sprintf("%.14f %.10f %2.5f", x))
where three different formats are %.14f %.10f %2.5f.
The error message I got is "Error in sprintf(fmt, ...) : too few
