Installing RHEL On Laptop.....
Not sure if this is the right place to come to, but I don't have "RHN" support.....I'm hoping someone can help me out here. I have downloaded the RHEL .ios file and burned it to DVD/CD, my laptop is primed to Boot From CD/ROM Drive, I start the installation using the semi-graphical interface, and the first few options are a breeze, then it gets to identifying the CD drive

Portal crashes when I click new game.
I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 with the newest version of Wine. I'm relatively new to Linux, but I do understand the basics of terminal. I have Portal installed on the Steam platform in Ubuntu through Wine, and when I open it, it all starts up beautifully, but when it gets to the main menu, some objects are missing in the background and you can see some glitched up areas. Then, when I click

cciss solution for CentOS 7
I've recently come across a thread in the CentOS forums [0] regarding the solution to getting hardware requiring the cciss driver, such as HP ProLiant G5 systems, to install and boot with CentOS 7. The thread was a start in the right direction, but I believe I've determined a better workflow and feel that it would benefit the community to have this published either in the release

Syslinux-6.03 getting stuck with kernel boot.
Hi every one, I am trying to load a custom kernel with Syslinux on special purpose pc. Surprisingly Syslinux-4.06 boots my kernel, initrd and finally the OS perfectly from an SD-Card. The problem arises when I use the Syslinux-6.03 where the syslinux hangs right at the beginning After I see the message 'Loading vmLinuz0 ...' I read a few posts on your forums and figured out it has to do

Nouveau on GeForce GTX 980M
Hi, I was wondering is it possible to can get my GeForce GTX 980M work with Nouveau. I see that the non "M" version if GTX 980 is supported ( https://nouveau.freedesktop.org/wiki/CodeNames/) but not the "M" version, how different are they? Now it uses Gallium 0.4 on llvmpipe, from my understanding that's fallback using the cpu right? *lshw -C video:* *-display

CentOS 3 - I/O performance with Promise HW RAID
(Suggestions for other forums in which to post this question are welcome.) We have CentOS 3.6 x86_64 running on a server with dual 2.2GHz Opterons and a Promise UltraTrak RM8000 connected via an Adaptec SCSI card. We are seeing what seems to be gradual I/O performance degradation over time; it seems to be OK for up to about 90 days, but not long after that both CPUs end up continuously spending

Reset audio controller w/o rebooting?
As I mentioned on a thread about flash-plugin a few days ago, I'm having trouble with my sound device getting "stuck" and thereby causing problems for anything that accesses it, like video playback. Rebooting the machine "fixes" it for a while, but it's unpredictable for how long -- sometimes months go by without it recurring, sometimes it happens every couple of days.

request for clarification on Asterisk T.38 bounty
The bounty stands at $5,500. I'm seriously considering taking a shot at it if I can find a decent T.38 provider to test with (I'm still hoping for reliable PAYG T.38). It looks like a lot of very smart people have done a lot of very hard work (t38modem, spandsp) that would go towards getting this working. At this point it appears to be mostly a matter of integration

Dell Lattitude E5430 -- split screen
Dear All, I installed CentOs on a brand new Dell Lattitude E5430. I did a minimal install, then did a "yum groupinstall Desktop" and I installed xorg-x11-drv-intel.i686. Also, I installed a i686 CentOs on a 64bit system, thinking because it has 4Gb or ram, It makes no difference. The screen is split top to bottom on the left hand side. This was quickly solved by adding
