Sendmail, localloop, and iptables -- should I be more paranoid?
By default, sendmail only listens on the localloop: DAEMON_OPTIONS(`Port=smtp,Addr=127.0.0.1, Name=MTA')dnl But by default to allow sendmail to even work the iptables entry is: -A RH-Firewall-1-INPUT -m state --state NEW -m tcp -p tcp --dport 25 -j ACCEPT Without this, sendmail can't even connect to localloop. But should I handedit this line to something like: -A

Bug#252597: logcheck: user logchecks mails should be delivered to root
Package: logcheck Version: 1.2.20a Severity: important Since logcheck changed to run as user logcheck, the error mails of the cron daemon end up in /var/mail/logcheck where nobody reads them. Mails for logcheck should be aliased to root like all the other mails of system accounts. I was searching for a long time what was wrong with my logcheck not delivering any mails. The lock directory was

Installing and running logcheck on CentOS
I've installed logcheck on CentOS from source, as well as liblockfile and lockfile-progs. I've created a logcheck user with /var/lib/logcheck as the home and /sbin/nologin as the shell. logcheck user is in the adm group. I also customised the list of logfiles for CentOS. When I run logcheck, I get the following errors: # sudo -u logcheck logcheck -ot basename: invalid option -- - Try

Bug#290195: violations.d/sudo and violations.ignore.d/logcheck-sudo missing sudo log entries
Package: logcheck Version: 1.2.32 Severity: normal It seems when someone runs a sudo command on my system, logcheck misses it. Package: logcheck Version: 1.2.34 Severity: wishlist I have a couple of home-made logcheck ignore files, and happened to have one unescaped (and unmatched) `(' in one of the filter lines. Because of this, cron sent a mail with the body "grep: Invalid regular expression" - the subject is the command in the "2 * * * *" line in /etc/cron.d/logcheck, of course. It would be

forwarding all calls to cells
Hello everybody, A client wants to install a FreePBX infrastructure, but have all calls forward to their cell phones rather than buying VoIP phones. They would be doing SIP trunks over a Comcast business line. Probably maximum 6 simultaneous calls. Any gotchas we should warn them about?
