on Ubuntu Developer Summit (Oneiric), NUT and 2.8.0
Fellows, I've been caught by real life, and didn't find time to share / discuss this with you. I've been attending UDS Oneiric, from May 9 to 13 in Budapest, and had a chance to present and complete some ideas around NUT: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ServerOneiricInfraPower The end target is to have NUT ready to address infrastructures, both static like data-centers and flexible like

2.8.0 roadmap
Dear NUT developers and contributors, time has come to shed more light on 2.8.0 roadmap! Ubuntu Developer Summit attendance has helped to clarify things. several of 2.8.0 tasks are detailed here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ServerOneiricInfraPower I'm conscious that our development infrastructure (Alioth) is not that suitable to track roadmaps, "Agile" specs and developments, as we do

[RFC] PowerChain: add device.parent to NUT variable names
As already presented, the links below will describe in details the PowerChain notion: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ServerOneiricInfraPower https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ServerOneiricInfraPower#PowerChain%20design https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ServerOneiricInfraPower#PowerChain%20implementation The idea here is to add a new variable, named 'device.parent', so that every device can reference its parent. Missing files on windows_port branch
I think this trunk-to-branch interior merge should be clean, but the merge logic correctly identifies some missing files in the reposurgeon output (checked in -pre7 and -pre4). They are in SVN on that branch, though (ignoring .gitignore for the time being). I only see one java file in scripts/java/jNut/src/main/java/org/networkupstools/jnut/ from reposurgeon.

Oneiric Ocelot Package missing from PPA
http://ppa.launchpad.net/ubuntu-wine/ppa/ubuntu/pool/main/w/wine1.3/ I recently tried to install the Latest .29 WINE from the PPA and it ended up using the .15 version from the official Ubuntu 11.10 Repository instead. Although it doesn't matter for .29 (as it has a bug that has since been fixed), I would like to know if we'll be expecting a package on the PPA for the next version, I

Introduce jNutWebApi
Hi All, Perhaps you have seen, a few weeks ago, a release of jNut-0.2 which introduces nut-scanner capability to jNut java library, see http://networkupstools.org/download.html#_java_packages. With this package have been released jNutWebApi, a java web archive which uses jNut to present some UPSD and nut-scanner data on the form of a web service. This package is a maven-based project

Is it me or is it Oneiric
I converted to Oneiric Ocelot pre-alpha several days ago. Yes, I already know that was a bad move on my part. Git compiled and ran well once or twice and then... I compiled the git yesterday and tried to run NatSpeak, and this error popped up. susan at ubuntu:~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Nuance/NaturallySpeaking10/Program$ wine natspeak fixme:mountmgr:harddisk_ioctl returning zero-filled

Can I install Wine 1.4 on Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric?
Can I get it from repository? When I'm adding ppa with updating, apt-get still cannot find last version (only 1.3.28 is avail. to load). When print 'sudo apt-get install wine1.4' it gives an error (something as: no such file)

Compiling wine in Ubuntu Oneiric
Hello, I'm having trouble compiling wine 1.3.31 under the latest Ubuntu, 64 bit multiarch, etc. What basically happens is that the compile and make steps go just fine, but any sound that the newly built wine makes, doesn't use PulseAudio, it takes over the sound device. The only thing I've got to go on is a warning when doing ./configure that tells me that I'm missing the 32 bit

Issues with Xorcom astribanks when running Ubuntu 11.10 (oneiric) as a quemu/libvirt guest
Hi, Xorcom astribanks get initialized straight on when using Ubuntu 11.10 packages but I am having a hard time to get the same result running in a qemu/libvirt image. The first difficulty is that astribanks devices get different usb device ids during their initialisation process, requiring hot plug support. I have figured out how to solve this issue using the technique described in this post :

Adding power devices support to Fusion Inventory
Dear Fusion Inventory fellows, I've been thinking about working on adding power devices knowledge to inventory systems for years. Following the last Ubuntu Developer Summit, I know have an "excuse" to do so: https://blueprints.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+spec/servercloud-p-cloud-power-management My below proposition is related to the above blueprint. So please keep in mind that the

worker starting twice
Hi gang, Thanks to other help I''ve gotten on this list, I''ve got backgroundrb up and running using postgres alongside my rails app. I''ve designed the system to have several eternally-running workers that periodically poll the database to see if there''s any work for them to do, and set things up in the config file to make them restart quickly if any of them

Status of java interface
Hello, I am embarking on a project using NUT on a Raspberry pi talking to a Cyberpower UPS for storm event (e.g. hurricane) power management at a remote location. I would prefer to use Java as a programming platform for this application, but I see the NUT Java project has not been updated in a long time (7 years?!). Is it being tested with new NUT releases or has been abandoned? If the later, I

naming a new Mac OS X UPS driver
I've been working on a meta-driver that tries to address one of the difficulties of using NUT on a Mac OS X system which has built-in drivers for several USB-connected UPSes. On a stock OS X system, after you plug in a system-supported UPS, a new "UPS" tab shows up in the "Energy Saver" system preferences panel. Basic status information is presented there, and
