CentOS 8 w/gnome and NUT
I'm playing with a new CentOS 8 with a cyperpower OR500 (a smaller sibling to the OR700) plugged in via USB.
GNOME sees the UPS... but NUT does not (even if I shut down gnome).

NUT-HAL (for use with USB UPS's and Gnome)
My first attempt to post this bounced -- this is a 2nd try.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
I've recently installed a CyberPower OR500 on a CentOS 6.4 system.
nut comes RPM'd as nut-hal -- and I've played a little with it - but I'm trying to figure out
just what it provides at that point. (looking at the docs, I'm not quite sure)

Sorry about that - Alioth, the server that hosts the lists, was down due to disk failure:

However, it is not listed anywhere on the Hardware Compatibility List

USBHID-UPS not detecting USB UPS even though options match
Hello:
I have a Cyberpower OL1500RTXL2U ups connected to a raspberry pi running
void linux via USB.
After configuring the UPS and attempting to start the usbhid-ups driver, it
fails to detect it, even when running with the -u root option. Based on the
debug logs, it checks the correct USB device but doesn't detect it for some
reason.
Below are terminal extracts of nut-scanner and attempting

CyberPower usbhid-ups continuously disconnects/reconnect
I have had a similar problem to many other people for the last few
months with my Cyberpower UPS. It was working properly after reboot
about one in five times; the rest of the time it would endlessly
disconnect and reconnect, according to syslog messages.
The latest I was able to find towards a solution is

Problems with usbhid-ups and CyberPower CP1500 on 2.6.0
I've been running the Debian packaged 2.4.3 for a while, working find. When
2.6.0-1 just pushed through to debian, things have stopped working :(
I checked what had been the usual suspects in past problems, namely
permissions problems in /dev/bus/usb, but all seems in order:
