Bug#441342: Nut can kill power to UPSs that never went on battery
tags 441342 upstream thanks Hi Robert, thanks for your report and investigation. We will check to fix this and give you news back. 2007/9/9, Robert Woodcock <rcw at debian.org>: > Package: nut > Version: 2.2.0-2 > Severity: important > > I recently set up nut at work to monitor the 15 APC Smart-UPS 1500s we have > in our server room. Serial port problem
Since about v0.9 I've been unable to get wine to reliably receive characters on the serial port. Sending is fine. The latest version I've tried is 1.1.23, and this always loses the first two characters of a line, then randomly loses some of the later ones. Is anyone else seeing the problem? It's an absolute show-stopper for me because the only Windows software I use needs serial coms

Questions on the state of the UPS market
As previously noted, I need to replace a UPS and want to do my product research in public so others can benefit. The information I elicit on this thread will be merged into the UPS-HOWTO. I went to my local computer-equiuipment big-box store, a place called MicroCenter in Ardmore, Pennsylvania. I looked at the range of "UPS" devices they sell and was *completely* confused. Bear in

Front End for OggEnc
I'm a little bit of a python programmer - I'm working on it. But, before I go and spend time writing a front end for OggEnc, is there already an existing one? Any URLs would be nice ;) -Rob --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project homepage: http://www.xiph.org/ogg/ To unsubscribe from this list, send a message to 'vorbis-request@xiph.org' containing

What we need to make it
Here's what we need for a BIG popularity boost: Good interfaces! Yeah yeah, i know, i'll be bitched at on how I should do it on my own, but one thing that always ticked me about MP3 - the lack of tools that do the job without the mess. What we need now is - an ID tag editor. Menu-driven, that means CLI or GUI. We need that, badly. Encoder - GUIs for X and MS Windows. Right now, encoding

Guest account not working after upgrade
I recently upgraded samba from samba-2.2.1a-4 to samba-2.2.7-2.7.2 on Red Hat 7.2 and a guest share stopped working. The share is defined as: [test] comment = Test path = /test browseable = yes guest ok = yes guest account = intranet writable = yes It looks like with the new version samba has started accessing the file system as user nobody, which doesn't work. This is my

TDM400P > BT
Hi folks, Any Brits on the list got experience of hooking devices with standard BT plugs to the TDM400P? The TDM400P has the RJ11/RJ45 socket but I'm not sure if a standard adapter will do the trick or if we need to consider ring capacitors etc. Any links to buy the stuff would also be appreciated. Power-outage
I have a CentOS-5.6 remote server in a house in Italy, where there are occasional thunder-storms. There was one yesterday, when the electricity went off 3 times, for a second or so on each occasion. My server, an HP MicroServer, came back (re-booted) on 2 of the 3 occasions, but not on the third. I assume that the problem arises because the machine does not close down properly. (Although it is

Do I need a ring capacitor to use TDM400P cards in UK
Hello I have played about with a TDM400 card and plugged in some standard analog phones. I am using the card in FXS mode - for analog extensions. I did notice that one of my phones did not ring and I wondered why. I later read in Paul Mahler's book VoIP Telephony with Asterisk that in his section on the TDM400 on page 127 he says "In the UK, you may need an adapter that provides a

OT: hardware, IBM 3650 M2 won't power on
Just for grins, pull off the cover and look at the electrolytic capacitors on the motherboard. Look for ones with the tops pushed up instead of being flat. This can cause all sorts of odd behavior. Often the machine with a blown capacitor will continue to run till it is powered off. Mostly I see this on Dell machines but have seen it on other machines as well. They are pretty easy to

Email Alerts for Multiple UPSs with upssched
There's supposedly another way with a custom upsmon.conf: NOTIFYMSG type message upsmon comes with a set of stock messages for various events. You can change them if you like. NOTIFYMSG ONLINE "UPS %s is getting line power" NOTIFYMSG ONBATT "Someone pulled the plug on %s" Note that %s is replaced with the identifier of the UPS in question. The message must be one

Question marks in Broadcast Messages
I'm setting up a NUT server. During testing, I have deployed it on both CentOS and SUSE. I have both servers looking at two physical UPSs and two "dummy" UPSs. My NUT client is running on Solaris and is rigged to look at the "dummy" UPSs. As I toggle states on the dummy UPSs, the client correctly detects the changes and throws a message of the type: > Broadcast

Reg errors? Other anomalies? Check those capacitors!
Three months ago, I was experiencing all sorts of issues with my Asterisk box maintaining a connection to multiple trunks, etc. I also experienced various timing issues as well. In addition, Asterisk would sometimes take almost a minute to fully load and register its SIP and IAX trunks. Puzzled, I recompiled several times. No result. I checked my hardware. Didn't find anything. However, I did

NUT - General Concept Question
Garrett, I hope you're not barking up the wrong tree because that's exactly what I'm working toward. The web display was pretty straightforward. I haven't worked out the email notification part yet but it seems like it should be doable. -Charles From: Nut-upsuser [mailto:nut-upsuser-bounces+fairfaxc=missouri.edu at lists.alioth.debian.org] On Behalf Of Garrett Michael Hayes

Email Alerts for Multiple UPSs with upssched
This was the secret sauce! I first modified my BASH script to stuff the output of the 'set' command into a variable, then passed that variable in to my email command. Then I triggered an event and saw what variables were there in the body of the message. Voila! $UPSNAME and $NOTIFYTYPE were there and available. I modified the script to pump THOSE into the mail command, and the problem

Supporting APC 5G UPSs
Hi Guys, I'd like to submit a patch to enable NUT to communicate with APC 5G UPSs. The current usbhid-ups driver recognises APC UPSs by the Vendor ID and Product ID of 0x051D and 0x0002. This needs to be amended with the new Product ID of 0x0003. (See attached file: apc-hid.patch) Secondly, when Nut polls the UPS via the interrupt channel, these will time out, resulting in frequent lost
