We use HP R5500XR UPS, and they all have SNMP cards. These devices supposedly use the IETF MIB, but in order to get the SNMP driver to talk to them I have had to hack it slightly. I have attempted to create cpqpowermib.h for the snmp-ups driver. We use HP UPSs and version 2 of the firmware for their AF401A management cards use the CPQPOWER-MIB. I've started looking at implementing 3phase-support, and this uncovered some rather unpleasant stuff in the snmp-ups driver that I really need to fix in order to get things sane. I could mess around with serial/USB cables, but I'd really rather talk to the UPS over the network. I don't want all my servers relying on a single machine with a serial connection. -matthew

I've configured nut to communicate with APC SmartUPS 750 via 'newhidups' driver and this works w/o probs in case of shutting the system down. The UPS would stay on though.
