RV: About your driver NUTDRV_ATCL_USB(8) for install
Dear Charles,
Thanks for your quick reply, but I can't install nut_2.7.2 in my raspberry.
1) I create a [nut] directory and use wget to download three files:
[nut_2.7.2-1.dsc] [nut_2.7.2.orig.tar.gz] [nut_2.7.2-1.debian.tar.xz] 2)I
unpack:
dpkg-source -x nut_2.7.2-1.dsc
3) I use command
root at pi1:/nut/nut-2.7.2# debuild -us -uc .
..
And I have the following error code:

RV: About your driver NUTDRV_ATCL_USB(8) for install
I think I may be of some help in this matter. Since I am running a
bunch of Raspberry Pi's with NUT and it took a lot of hacking to make
it possible. You could probably copy and paste this right into a
shell script and just run it ...

Ubuntu Dapper packages
Hi all,
Daniele Favara was kind enough to package Xapian (and Pinot :-) for Dapper
and Xubuntu. I understand Daniele used cdbs to build these packages.
http://packages.debian.org/unstable/devel/cdbs
I am not sure if the differences with the official packages built for Debian and
Breezy are significant...
Anyway, if you would like to give them a go, add the following to your

.deb rules in NUT trunk, on Ubuntu 7.10
Arnaud,
I just tried to build .debs from the trunk (r1254) on an Ubuntu 7.10
box, and it looks like the rules file is installing files to both
debian/tmp and debian/nut. This means the debian/nut directory is
effectively ignored (the nut_2.3.0-*.i386.deb files come from
debian/tmp instead).
I am not sure of the best way to fix it, but it may involve changing
the parameters to some of the

debian lintian warn: hardening-no-fortify-functions
Hello,
to build + packages dovecot I use the usual Debian tool chain. That includes build with selected GCC options and running lintian.
I notice since a long time (read: many earlier versions, up to 2.2.35) this lintian warnings:

Another node is heartbeating in our slot!
All,
We are having some problems getting OCFS2 to run, we are using kernel
2.6.15 with OCFS2 1.2.1. Compiling the OCFS2 sources went fine and all
modules load perfectly.
However, we can only mount the OCFS2 volume on one machine at a time,
when we try to mount the volume on the 2 other machines we get an error
stating that another node is heartbeating in our slot. When we mount the
volume

deb repo with dovecot-antispam ?
There are .debs available for version 2.2 both from backports and
ix.dovecot.fi, but neither seem to have the antispam plugin built for
version 2.2. Anybody know why, and (if there is no particular reason)
how to get dovecot-antispam in a proper .deb package for dovecot-2.2.* ?

Some install package fixes for Ubuntu Hardy
I encountered some failures in using install.packages() to install rgl
and rJava in some of my (multiple) Ubuntu Hardy systems. A quick search
of the 'Net did not show any debian packages for these. The
install.packages messages said header or other files were missing,
suggesting path and related woes. Email with Duncan Murdoch (thanks!)
pointed the way with rgl and led to a fix for rJava

Trying to install R on Lucid Lynx
Hi:
I installed Lucid Lynx amd64 on my system today, dual booted with Win 7.
I've managed to install several packages through the Ubuntu Software
Center with success and also installed texlive. Alas, installing my favorite
software has not been so joyful. I went through the last few months
of posts in this group to find something similar, but to no avail.
After a couple of false starts, I

debian package from svn / errors and non working debian rules
Hello,
I tried to build an debian package from svn. First I checked out trunk
and the 2.3.2 branch, which both build this quite "old" package :-)
icecast2_1.9+2.0alphasnap2+20030802-1_amd64.deb
Then I tried the kh branch, which doesn't build with dpkg-buildpackage:

I just noticed that if you use the "fakeroot debian/rules binary"
method, the "ifeq (linux,$(DEB_HOST_ARCH_OS))" test is false,

building rpy against lenny-cran
Hi.
On all of my machines, except for a netbook cursed with the GMA500
chipset, the R packages are synced to lenny-cran.
I have been using rpy in a chroot using the official lenny
R packages (2.7.1) given that i have not been able to find
compatible rpy deb packages to work with lenny-cran.
I am able to build the rpy deb package from source in
a 32-bit lenny chroot (with the stock R packages)

I tried your procedure, that's to say:
sudo apt-get build-dep xapian-bindings
sudo apt-get install php5-dev php5-cli
apt-get source xapian-bindings
cd xapian-bindings-1.2.*
rm debian/control
env PHP_VERSIONS=5 debian/rules maint
debuild -e PHP_VERSIONS=5 -us -uc
cd ..
sudo dpkg -i php5-xapian_*.deb
Though, it is failing with this error message:

r-cran-rjava (ubuntu 13.04 ?) -- missing dependencies?
I am really no java lover, but for some reason had interested to look
at an R package that depends on rJava...
and when I tried, I was *again* (it is my usual experience for more
than 10 years)
unable to get rJava installed,
as indeed, also 'R CMD javareconf' ended in an error that jni.h
was not found.
I see the issue here,

Also getting the return scsi packet is a hack but so far I can see no alternative short of knowing about all the

Hi,
I get an error message (see below) when trying to install the sp package

I have run sudo apt-get build-dep r-base, but to no help.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
