Opening the 2.4 commit fest
fellows,
You can now commit to the trunk everything that is scheduled for 2.4
For my part, the november month will be mostly dedicated to the following:
- commit the USB "improved maintenance" code. I'm about to finish that
one, which allows to extract USB info and generate the various USB
related files (hotplug, udev and hal). so the end of that bothering
era ^_^

Hi,
I wanted to configure reporting in puppet. I came across the
below links which says what needs to be added in config file to enable
reports.
But I was wondering how I view the visual report/graphs do I need to
create my own script.

rrd library missing
I am trying to get rrd graphs working, but I am getting the infamous
"RRD library is missing; cannot store metrics". Everything I have
read about the error applied to redhat or ubuntu. I am using Solaris
10.
I installed both the rrdtool Solaris package and the RubyRRDtool gem.
When I run "ruby -rRRDtool -e ''puts :yep''", it successfully returns

rrd tool to make samba usage graphs?
Someone knows of a tool to make samba usage graphs? I know this isn't
exactly samba related. But I have several samba fileservers and it would
be great to have such tool to measure the usage of a fileserver. Mostly
openfiles, but connected users would be great.
Tnxs in advance.

problems building nfdump / nfsen
Hey folks, I posted this as part of another old thread but am starting
a new thread for it because I got no response. I've also since found
the nfdump mailing list but it seems to be dead. I was not able to
find either of these guys in a CentOS repository anywhere, so I'm
building them manually. Below was on CentOS 5.2.

I'm going to kick this old thread because I'm

monitoring classes
Greetings all,
I''ve been searching high and low for any inkling of how people are
monitoring classes for long term usage data. I''m thinking something along
a script to collect the data for mrtg or perhaps even an snmp module that
would present them as interfaces to be polled....has anyone done any work
in this area?

RRD Graphs
Hi all,
I''ve significantly reworked the RRDGraph report. Here''s some test
output based on the reports lying around on my systems:
http://luke.madstop.com/rrdtest/
Currently, everything except the top-level index.html file will get
generated automatically by the report.
I can already see I need to go check out my virtual machines, since
they''re making changes

UPSLog rotating
Hi,
Trying to rotate the ups.log on a FreeBSD 7.0 system
and its not being nice about it.
I tried the "quick and dirty" way by doing :
mv /var/log/ups.log ${DATEDDIRECTORY}/ups.log
kill -1 `cat /var/db/nut/upslog.pid`
I get :
Sep 17 10:57:20 valhalla upslog[81972]: could not reopen logfile /var/log/ups.log: Permission denied
So I stop upslog, remove the file, and start it

THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU!!!!!!
There was a smaller patch posted to the list for lines
-1389,9 +1390,10
a couple years ago, it helped some - BUT - it was still buggy.
I have a Compaq R3000, I will get this patch integrated pronto and test
Note that since the UPS relies on the voltage from the battery pack to
determine state of charge, it is quite useful to add in the battery pack

oops, this wasn't supposed to make it into the trunk yet. I can revert
it until further testing, but has anyone else tried running with this
patch?

occassional problem wtih upslog and apc ups units via snmp ... [NA] status
Os is redhat enterprise, kernel 2.6.18-164.2.1.e15
NUT is apparently 2.4.1
It was installed by tar.
Monitoring a lot of apc UPS units-mostly Smart-UPS of various flavors, also a Silcon DP380E.
Normally works just fine... "upslog" writes status log every 30 seconds with various parameters..
Every so often, one of the UPS units has a log entry of:
