APC CS650 not turning load back on when power return
Hi all, I'm in the process of testing a new APC Back Ups CS-650, connected to a Debian Linux box via USB and being monitored with NUT v2.4 (installed via the package from Debian testing). When I remove power from the UPS (with a dummy load connected) then once the battery gets down to the appropriate level the PC it's connected to via USB shuts down, and tells the UPS to power down the

NUT configuration with APC CS650 and ESXi host
Hello, I have decided to upgrade my home server by turning it into an ESXi host and have also added an APC CS650 UPS. My plan was to have NUT version 2.6.4 running in a Debian 7.7.0 virtual machine, NUT installed using apt. I configured NUT to run as a netserver, installed the ESXi nut .vib, configured the shutdowncmd in the VM to do nothing, so that the ESXi host would close that virtual machine

Support of "shutdown.return" on a APC Back-UPS CS 500
Hi all, I am trying to get a APC Back-UPS CS 500 running on my QNAP 419P Nas. Since on all my work I figure out the following: from Network UPS Tools upscmd 2.4.1 [~] # upscmd -l qnapups Instant commands supported on UPS [qnapups]: beeper.disable - Disable the UPS beeper beeper.enable - Enable the UPS beeper beeper.mute - Temporarily mute the UPS beeper beeper.off - Obsolete (use

OT: really dumb question about APC UPS
We have about 4 servers connected to an APC UPS. The UPS only has one UPS connection. So my question is, in a power outage how do i get all my servers to safely shutdown? Do i run a USB hub? Do i write a script on the one machine connected to turn off all the other machines? I'm confused. Jamie

New APC "SMT" UPSes support MODBUS, will there be support in NUT?
Hi All, About a month ago APC announced they were including MODBUS protocol support in their new APC UPSes. The technical note on this is here: http://www.apcmedia.com/salestools/MPAO-98KJ7F/MPAO-98KJ7F_R0_EN.pdf "Application Note #176 Modbus Implementation in APC Smart-UPS" The APC "announcement" appeared on their site in their user blogs by an APC employee, here:

APC Smart-ups "status codes" (slightly OT)
We got replacement battery "kits" for some of our APC UPS' (Smart-UPS, rackmount). I put them into one tray (it's for an RBC 43, which takes 8, and weighs a ton), and put it in, and let it charge. Idiot "change battery" led stays on. So I hit the test button, it discharges very rapidly (a good number of servers on this), and the led stays on. For some reason,

Help, please! Driver for APC Back-UPS 390 Watts / 700 VA, 230V, AVR, IEC Sockets
Hi Roger, Thank you for your advise. I tried driver = apcupsd port = auto But unfortunately I get the same error message ?Failed to execute command ?upsc 'ups' 2>&1': Error: Driver not connected" As I am not very good in using OMV, maybe there is something else I should do? Some newhidups questions
Gentlemen, I have done some experiments with an APC Back-UPS ES 650, to identify the currently specified items that are not available with this device, and to find out what non-standard items the device provides. Of the currently specified items, the following are not available: UPS.Battery.Temperature UPS.Output.PercentLoad UPS.PowerSummary.DelayBeforeShutdown UPS.Battery.Test

apcupsd, APC UPSs, and batteries, resolved
Well, here's the tale: we got a "replacement kit" for some APC SmartUPS 3000 - rackmount UPSs. The "kit", costing about half of what APC is asking, is just the batteries, and you pull the tray out, open it up, and swap out the batteries. Except, I did this on one... and the replace battery light never went out. Not using apcupsd's apctest, not pushing the button. The

PCNS for CentOS and APC ups's
Apparently there is only an Itanium client for RHEL according to APC? I need to setup a few boxes to shut down safely and don't know if the PCNS 2.2.3 Linux version will do it? Anyone know why it needs Java as well? (Blegh) Assuming APC is fairly popular, how do you guys shutdown your CentOS boxes with a UPS with a management card in it?
