SOLVED: chdir failed: Permission denied
Ok, so if anyone runs into a problem where dovecot reports chdir(/home/BLAH) failed with uid NNN: Permission denied in Fedora Core 4 or otherwise, it seems to be a SELinux problem. Turn OFF SELinux and the problem goes away. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

Fatal: chdir(/home/xxxxx) failed with uid xxx: Permission denied
I've had this issue for sometime, I finally gave up and switched to Courier-Imap but I'm finding I hate data storage / structure so I decided to give dovecot another go but am still running into the same issue. I had this working once upon a time and can not for the life of me figure it out. Here's some basic info. Dist: Gentoo 2005.1 Emerge Info: net-mail/dovecot-1.0_beta8

chdir failed: Permission denied
Hi there, Upgrading to Fedora Core 4 from an old server running Red Hat 7.3. I'm moving accounts over by hand, and I'm having the following error crop up for *everyone*. chdir(/home/BLAH) failed with uid 500: Permission denied Now, that UID is correct, the user has that access, and there are no permissions problems changing to that directory. I've got the mail in /var/mail/XXX for

vfs ChDir failed: Permission denied
Just upgraded a file server to Samba 4.17.9-Debian and Bullseye (Debian 11). Noticed that am now getting a number of errors in the smbd log: 'chdir_current_service: vfs_Chfir (a-directory) failed. Permission Denied uid=................ The uid on all the entries seems to correspond to a computer/machine account if I look it up with 'wbinfo --uid-info'. Thoughts? Thank you

chdir (/var/lib/samba/profiles) failed
L.S. I've some problems on a couple of my samba servers. The servers running CentOS release 5 with samba-3.0.25b-1.el5_1.4 The config is pretty standard, not much special in it. But the log files are filling up with error messages like this one: [2008/03/12 17:08:47, 0] smbd/service.c:set_current_service(184) chdir (/var/lib/samba/profiles) failed On the clients (all windows XP) are

smbd/service.c:set_current_service(56) chdir (/var/ghost) failed
Hey Gang, I have a suse 8.1 server that I have compiled samba 3.0.2 from source on. I have it configured to authenticate against our AD. That seems to be working fine. getent passwd produces the results from both passwd and AD. getent group gives me the groups + the AD groups. I was able to assign the permissions to the folder without problems. It picked up the group from AD and assigned it

Dovecot v2.3.4.1 Debian 10.3 mbox format - Error: chdir(/var/spool/mail/domain/user) failed: Not a directory
Hi colleagues, I am trying to setup dovecot and have a strange problem. I configured it to: #dovecot -n|grep ^mail mail_gid = mail mail_location = mbox:/var/spool/mail/%d/mailboxes/%n:INBOX=/var/spool/mail/%d/%n mail_uid = mail And also setup exim4 to use it. I sent a test message and observe a mailbox file /var/spool/mail/domain/user, containing this message. But when I try to access

Tripp Lite OMNIVS1500XL Unknown protocol
Good afternoon, I'm trying without much success to monitor a Tripp Lite OMNIVS1500XL using NUT. I checked the compatibility list and saw that this UPS is supported by tripplite_usb. The system is running Debian Stable, but I've downloaded NUT 2.0.3 and compiled from source since the packaged 2.0.1 doesn't include tripplite_usb. I compiled --with-user=nut. My first attempt at

Cannot enable browsing, chdir to /tmp denied...
Hello, Samba refuses to be browseable. I started out wanting to configure it as a PDC, just as I have done previously with samba 2.2.8 (and openldap). smbclient -L localhost -U% gives "Error returning browse list: NT_STATUS_NETWORK_ACCESS_DENIED". Using debian 3.0r1, samba 3.0.0, openldap with nsswitch, etc. I am a newbie at looking at the logs, I see the access denied

OMNIVS1500XL and FreeBSD
I'm running FreeBSD 6.2 with Nut 2.0.5 installed from ports... I have a TrippLite OmniVS1500XL plugged in, but I'm having little luck with the tripplite_usb module. I have already built and booted a new kernel with UHID disabled so that libusb can grab /dev/ugen0. At first I was able to get the following out of the driver: # USB_DEBUG=5 /usr/local/libexec/nut/tripplite_usb -u root

Tripplite OMNIVIS1500XL Connection Refused

Offer of Tripplite OMNIVS1500XL to official nut developer
Hi all, I gave up on a Tripplite OMNIVS1500XL due to it failing to work on the version of Nut in FreeNAS (and having experienced numerous issues on Debian Jessie as well due to incomplete/unknown protocol elements causing USB problems and Debian Wheezy doesn't even recognize the device). Since the issue is likely lack of information (i.e. unknown protocol) I'm not sure my offer of device
