similar to: MoH - conversion command

I'd like to use native moh instead of with mpg123... for some reason the processes never bloody die. For native moh to not spawn an external player, I'd need to convert the default supplied moh sound files in /var/lib/asterisk/mohmp3 to ulaw and g729 format. Anyone know of a free, easy way to convert them? Thanks, Doug.

Where can I find alaw, ulaw, gsm, g729 formats for native music on hold? I have some mp3 files and I have tried to transcode them to above, but it seams that SOX can't do that. Is there a way to get * to use wav files instead of gsm files for the voicemail, agents, and queues applications? Gsm does not give all the quality we would like to have, and we use no low bit rate codecs.

I was copying tracks from CD into mp3 files so that I could use it in Asterisk 1.4.21.2 MOH. (BTW, I have already secured proper license to play MOH to callers.) I used MS Media Player version 11 and rip it at 128kbps (smallest) but whenever I listen to MOH, I saw the following message on the Asterisk console. Does anyone have any opinions on the music on hold quality over G729? The stock files seem to sound terrible over it, this is enhanced further by calls coming from the PSTN via a Zaptel gateway. I am only using the stock wav files and have not attempted to use much else so far. Thanks for the feedback. I do agree with having multiple smaller servers. When I was first approached with this task I mentioned as much. However, the current desire is to work with already existing hardware. That is out of my hands at the moment unless it just can't be done. I will explore Freeswitch a bit soon to compare it as well.
