Fwd: Re: Asterisk as a Condo door opener/intercom
Asterisk as a phone system makes perfect sense in a condo. You can get
all the DID's you want and eliminate costs for the owners. You can offer
standard FXO for people who don't care and IP sets for people who want
to "upgrade" to feature sets.
Your door openner is a piece of cake.

couple questions about supported UPSes and politics of purchase
a customer of mine needs a UPS capable of supporting a small server in his
office. Obviously, nut is a good thing for him for clean shutdown etc.
especially with the crappy quality power in his office condo.
I wanted to purchase an MGE UPS but it looks like they purchased APC and are now
flogging that product line. Now, I've never been happy with APC. I have an APC

Connecting home intercom to Asterisk?
Hello
I assume I'm not the first one to think about this: Is it possible to
connect an intercom and/or door bell to Asterisk, so that I can get an
e-mail that someone rang my place while I was out?
Even better: If used for a doctor's office, it'd be cool if patients
could type their Social Security Number on a keypad, which would open
the door and notify Asterisk which would then

Following the "security = domain in Samba 2.x" document in the SWAT
documentation page I do this:
root@pc194-79:/usr/local/samba/bin# smbpasswd -j MDU -r pv-mdu-server1
-Ujohnm%xxxxxxxx
Joined domain MDU.
root@pc194-79:/usr/local/samba/bin#
This is in [globals]:
security = DOMAIN
encrypt passwords = Yes
password server = pv-mdu-server1 pv-mdu-server2
And now I start Samba via smbd

Slow Samba Printer initialisation, status, and printing
OK, I have been wrestling with this for two weeks now, so somebody please
help !
We have an existing Samba Print Server, running RedHat linux, kernel
2.2.19, that runs fine, but is a P133 with 64 mb ram. So we built a new PC,
the slowest thing we could buy, a duron 1 ghz with 512 mb RAM. Old printer
server is running Samba 2.2.5, new printer server is running samba 2.2.5,
and Slackware 8.1,

asterisk + door opener
Hi!
I am new to asterisk and I'd like to know wheter the following scenario
is possible:
Someone press the Button on the door station.
The door station dials lets say the extension 333.
I take the call on 333 and talk with the person on the door.
Now I'd like to activate the door opener by pressing some numbers on the
analog telefon.
Asterisk should now recognize that I pressed

Doorbells & Door Intercoms
Hi,
Does anybody know of a VoIP compatible doorbell or door intercom unit?
I've contemplated buying a cheap SIP phone, ripping it apart, and
putting it inside an IP66 sealed unit...
It would need:
- At least one speed-dial key, or some way to make every button dial
the same extension number
- PoE (power over ethernet), so I can power it off the central switch
- cheap enough to rip apart

No intercom splash tone?
Environment:
Asterisk 1.2.14, FreePBX 2.2.0, Aastra 480i IP telephones firmware
version 1.4.1.1077.
Problem:
Intercom feature: the dialed phone does not play the splash tone when
auto-answering an intercom call. Otherwise, intercom works perfectly.
Questions:
What is the extensions.conf syntax to trigger a splash tone in Asterisk
1.2.14 (from the documentation and posts I've found, it has

Intercom/autoanswer, SIP, Cisco
A friend pointed out this url
http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/pcat/clmn32.htm where it lists
intercom/auto-answer as being a feature in Cisco Call Manager (which as I
understand it, uses SIP predominately for handsets). I've come
across comment somewhere that intercom isn't supported in the SIP spec.
Does anyone know if the apparent capability of Intercom being available in

SIP Intercom & Paging (was Overhead Paging)
I wasn't thinking of using the conference system as the basis. I was thinking more along the lines of:
1) Setup a second extension on the Cisco phone named "INTERCOM" enabled for auto-answer
2) Create a call group on asterisk to dial that "INTERCOM" extension on every phone that will participate
3) Add a feature code that would dial the intercom extension and connect

ip phones and intercom/paging
There was a thread a few months ago that tossed around some ideas for
using a cisco phone for intercom or paging. I don't have any ip
phones, and wondered if anyone had any luck getting intercom or paging
to work on the cisco units.
Do any of the (cheaper) ip phones have a way to support intercom or
paging?
I presume that it's not part of the SIP or IAX protocols.

Snom Intercom
I am trying to get one of the function keys on the Snom 200 working as an
intercom. However, I can't get the other Snom 200 phone to auto-answer. I
found some posts in the archives from Christian that talk about intercom=true
and also the Call-Info header. However, I can't get either one to work. I
have tried firmware 2.04g,2.04h,2.05f,3.33 and none work.
I am using chan_sip2z.c and

Paging and Intercom using Sipura SPA-841
I want to implement a one way announcement and paging facility using
Asterisk and Sipura phones. The wiki says Sipura phones only support
Auto Answer using the Call-Info header which is no lone shipped with
asterisk stable since 1.0.4.
I would like to ask if anyone has implemented a similiar facility
using Sipura SPA-841 or any other SIP phones. If I could take a look

Sip & Intercom
Hello all,
I noticed that Cisco claims that you can do station to station
intercom with the 7940/7960 phones, and the Cisco Call Manager. Does
anyone have an example SIP header that shows this in action? Or is it
something else that triggers the intercom? I would like to add this in
to *.
Thanks,
Mike

Global Intercom on SIP phones
Hello Everyone,
I would like to create an Intercom extension that will dial a group of
extensions which are connected to SIP phones. The SIP phones are setup
to auto answer a particular extension assigned to one of the lines in
the phone. All phones must answer and broadcast the page message at
the same time.
Has anyone done this? Or should I install an overhead speaker system

2 way intercom recommendation for restaurant kitchens
Greetings,
I need a 2 way intercom for separate kitchens to communicate without
having to walk back and forth.
The speaker has to be loud but clear, not distorted. Sometimes the
kitchens can be noisy.
It needs to be easy to use.
It needs to be easy to clean.
It would be nice if it used POE.
Eventually I would like the kitchens to be able to dial different parts
of the restaurant when I
