redirection doesn''t get detected well?
I''m doing a redirect in one of my controller actions and somehow I can''t spec it, see this pastie: http://pastie.caboo.se/53120. When following the link from a browser I''m being redirected to the right page. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

spec a replace_html with a partial
I wanted to use ARTS to add RJS in a behaviour driven way to my application, but I''m having some trouble asserting a replace_html with a partial. I''ve created a pastie (http://pastie.caboo.se/60694) which contains the RJS I want to spec, the spec which I already wrote and its failure message. I''m currently using RSpec-0.9.2

Using RESTful routes in controller tests
Why can''t I use the RESTful route helpers in my specs? In my controller I''m doing a redirect: redirect_to list_path(:id => @item.list_id) Now when I write: controller.should_redirect_to list_path(:id => 2) I''m getting the following error: NoMethodError in ''POST on /lists/2/items should redirect to index on succesful POST'' You have a nil object

Best practice thoughts: Model helpers, mocks
Hello! I''m pretty new to unit testing, and have only been using RSpec for a few weeks. I found that for my controller specs, my setup methods were getting very long building mocks/stubs for all the model objects I needed to work with. I''ve started creating helpers like the following for each of my models. The "min_" methods are short for "minimum", and

How to write the very first example?
Many posts on this list are about using RSpec with Rails and that''s the way I''m also using RSpec all the time. Unfortunately there isn''t that much info about using RSpec for standalone Ruby projects. I must admit I''m really having a hard time writing the very first example(s) for a fresh standalone Ruby project. I haven''t really got a clue where to

What is your workflow? Or how to use the story runner the right way.
I really would like to know how people are using the Story and Example runner to write their software. It would be great to get some direction on it, because I think I''m missing some points. Taking the outside-in approach in thought: At first we write a high-level customer-facing story, this story fails. Then we start using mocks at object level to use them as a design tool, and so we

Collection proxies need to be stubbed ?
Hi all ! I just started writing specs on a new project. I would just like to validate that this is the way you would write it. I know about mocks, stubs and expectations. I don''t think this is a problem for me. My question really boils down to: def index @projects = current_user.projects.active end My spec needs to return the proxy, no ? Here''s my code: context "A

Using RSpec to drive the design of a GUI desktop application
Hello everybody, I''ve been using RSpec as a tool to create web applications for some time now, in Rails, and using plain Ruby with WEBrick as well. The tool suits my needs and the story runner is great. Now there are things that aren''t solvable on the web, you''ll need a _real_ desktop application for those problems. So I''ve toyed a bit around with various GUI

Help with reading information of "summary"-Object
Hi, I am quite new to R - but quite expierience in programming. Nonetheless I have some problemes in accessing information of the "summary" object. Here is what I do: model <- lm ( y ~ myVariable ) "summary(model)" gives me an object which has a lot of information about the regression. Now I'd like to access programmatically the level of significance which is

[OT] What''s the best way to install ruby/rails on Mac OS X?
Hello folks, I''ve newly bought a Mac and am new to it. I want to install Ruby on Rails on it (Ruby, Rails, SVN, Apache, MySQL, ...) but I''m not sure which way is the best. Should I go for Fink? OpenDarwin? Or just install them directly on mac. What about something in Fink, something in OpenDarwin and something directly? I''m a bit confused, may you please give me a

[Bridge] Clarification regarding device matches in bridge-netfilter
Hi folks, in 2.4 kernels, device matching for bridged packets was done with iptables -i/-o. Since 2.6, I was used to use -m physdev here. In 2.6.18, This seems to be more complicated. At least the filter/INPUT chain now doesn't match with -m physdev --physdev-in anymore, but FORWARD and OUTPUT does. I also read the note that -m phydev is now deprecated for non-bridged traffic. Does this

Different behaviour of winbind in 4.8.3

FWIW, with 'winbind use default domain = yes' the output is: # id tmutest uid=1102339(tmutest) gid=1000513(domain users) groups=1000513(domain

qqnorm in R-0.63.3
Dear List, invoking qqnorm-plots in Version 63.3 produces funny things: using the option `type="s"ยด on qqnorm should give a nice *line* of observed quantiles. Now, the line is walking along in order to the points index instead from lowest to highest, wich makes funny slopes. try x <- table(rnorm(1000) # or similar and qqnorm(x,type="s") # in 0.63.2 and 63.3 Well, the

Hi folks, I use isync, an IMAP sync tool (Debian package isync 0.9.2-2) together with dovecot (dovecot-imapd 0.99.10.8-0.backports.org.1). Everytime when isync wants to upload a new mail from the client to the server I got messages like this: Mailbox outbox Selecting IMAP mailbox... >>> 16 SELECT "outbox" * FLAGS (\Answered \Flagged \Deleted \Seen \Draft) * OK [PERMANENTFLAGS

Details to factor analysis
Well, it is no problem to use R or S-Plus for a principle component analysis (PCA). The function "princomp" works very well with my polychoric correlation matrix, that I use for this approach on ordinal variables. But I want to inspect the Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin-crieterion with the "measure of sampling adequancy (MSA)" and the anti-image-correlation matrix. I can''t find
