Using voice modem as poor man's FXO in Asterisk 1.8
Hi all,
I've tried researching this, and so far, have struggled to find any
contemporary information on the issue, so I do apologise if asking this
irritates people who have answered this before.
I have managed to set up Asterisk 1.8 on the web server here. I have
two softphones (Ekiga) able to communicate with it. So far so good.
I'm now curious to see if I can link it with the PSTN

Error compiling Asterisk 1.8.3 on Sun SPARC x64 w/Debian Squeeze
Hello all,
Figured I'd repost this with an edited subject line, to attract attention of
people with Debian On Sparc experience. Apologies in advance if this kind of
thing is frowned upon :)

If the IP address is not significant, you can tell ssh to not record
them ("CheckHostIP no").

Ahh, in my scanning through the `ssh_config` manpage, I missed this, and
change logs seem to indicate this feature has been around since at least

Host key verification (known_hosts) with ProxyJump/ProxyCommand
Hi all,
I noticed a bit of an odd issue with maintaining `known_hosts` when the
target machine is behind a bastion using `ProxyJump` or `ProxyCommand`
with host key clashes.
Client for me right now is OpenSSH_9.3p1 on Gentoo Linux/AMD64. I'm a
member of a team, and most of us use Ubuntu (yes, I'm a rebel). Another
team who actually maintain this fleet often access the same machines

DES, eBones and crypt availble for non-US!
Hello World!
(In particular, that part of it ouside the USA and Canada)
I have (with official sanction of the organisation concerned)
a LEGAL site for the distribution of crypt and Kerberos code.
The secure code (crypt) is _identical_ to the US code. It originated in
South Africa and Australia, and has never been to the US, so it is totally
kosher. The Kerberos (eBones actually) code stared out

Nope? just tried it, at this time it's relative to whatever directory
you call `ssh` from.

Unusual bug in glusterfsd
Hi,
I'm rather new to this project, having stumbled across it earlier this
afternoon, so forgive me if I'm still trying to find my way around. I
was in the need of an alternative to NFS that would let me spread the
task of sharing my downloaded source code files across a couple of
boxes, and GlusterFS looked like a great candidate, having had no luck
with Coda or OpenAFS.
I also want

Yet another sup server available (Australia)
I've setup a sup server on sup.physics.usyd.edu.au for use by people in
Australia. It has current, ports and stable (except des, etc). The
max number of connections is currently set to 10, and the daily sup
updates begin at 3am local time (if a different time would be better,
let me know). This machine is located in Sydney, with good connectivity
to the NSW AARNet/TIS gateway. If the plans

incorrect URL (PR#1764)
Hi -
a tiny bug report:
the list of mirror sites given at www.r-project.org/
mentions
http://cran.mirror.aarnet.edu.au/
This domain does not exist (well, from Western Australia
netscape says the domain doesn't exist) but I found
the mirror at

Convert string for expression in plot
Hi,
Although I understand how to use expression and paste to add
superscripts and symbols to my graphs, I have a problem with adding
superscripts to an existing string.
For example, I read in the following from a separate file:
25Mg(p,g)
I want to convert that to superscripts etc. (in LaTex format):
$^{25}$Mg(p,$\gamma$)
This needs to then be put into a graph title.
Any ideas? I know that I

So I've built my first CentOS 7 host and am learning all the new ways of
doing things. I setup and enabled ntpd but after a reboot I get:
$ systemctl status ntpd
ntpd.service - Network Time Service
Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/ntpd.service; enabled)
Active: inactive (dead)
After issuing:
$ systemctl start ntpd
Ntpd runs just fine. But why isn't it loading at boot
