Detect #,* DTMF in dialplan
Dear Mr,Ms;
I am planing for a custom IVR, for example to act as a simple installer!
I mean there is some choice via 0-9 and # as *Next* and * as *Back* button.
is there any way for me to detect if the caller pressed # vs * on Dialplan ?

update CDR fields after Queue
Dears;
I have been faced with a problem that I am not sure about how can I solve
it...
I my scenario there is a variable which will be ready just after the callee
had hanged up and the caller, which coming throw a Queue.
But the CDR fields are logged into DB just after the Queue application. so
the '*userfield' *field will remained Blank.
is there any way to suspend CDR write INTO DB

pull a call from a queue
We have a queue monitoring application running so we can see the caller
ID of callers in a queue. If we see a VIP in the queue, is there any
method to force that call to be first in line? If there's a softphone,
or queue managing application already written that does this, I'd love
to know.

how does "wrapuptime" work in queue.conf
Hi list,
I'd like to have the callers to listen to the advertisement (music on
hold) before the agents answer them. So, I have wrapuptime=10 in
queue.conf, but the call still goes straight to the agents without
delay.
Here's my queue.conf:
[general]
persistentmembers = yes
[738]
musiconhold = empty
;musiconhold = default
;announce = q-738
;strategy = ringall
strategy = rrmemory

faced this exact same problem a few times on more than one servers and it
was 1) dialplan issue which was not hanging up the zap channels correctly 2)
using more than 8 spans on a server. Asterisk can't handle more than 96 zap
channels on T1s. FXO/FXS combinations can vary the number of spans but if
you know what I mean by spans, in production don't use more than 6 spans.

How to implement "priority queuing" within a single queue ?
Hi,
Let say that in a call center, callers are recognized and categorized in 4
priority levels (priority 1 for Very Very Important Personalities, 2 for
VIP, and so on) before entering a Queue.
How can you make sure a priority 2 caller is answered before priority 3
callers, for instance ?
I can think of several solutions but none really pleases me :
1. Have 4 different queues, set penalty value

How to know Caller's last position in Queue?
Hi group,
I have a simple call center scenario set up on Asterisk. Customer calls the
DID and gets placed in Queue waiting for their turn to talk to the available
agent.
Sometimes Customer hangs up in between and in this case I want to get the
last position of customer in Queue.
I know there is a variable called ${QEORIGINALPOS} that gives us original
position of caller in Queue, but there

tcng not working as expected
Hi,
Looking at the following sample, shouldn''t the client1_a be restricted to
35kBps even when there is 50kBps available. Please see the following
configuration and suggest.
What I wanted to do is I have clients grouped on VIP and Poor. The VIP
clients and poor clients may be subscribed with the same bandwidth but I
would like to prioritize the VIP clients. The VIP client will get the

Queues: Knowing when a caller is position 1 (agent phone ringing)
Hello Folks,
I am setting up a call center but we have few agents so one agent is
able to handle calls of different languages and different queues. For
the agent to identify the caller, I want a popup to appear as the
phone starts to ring with the caller's number, language (selected in
the IVR), Queue (sales, support etc) and any other information (e.g a
URL with parameters)
I can send this

Floating VIP...
Hi,
right now I am using only one external server as a gateway for the internal servers.
I would like to enable a fail-over on a second server.
To implement the floating VIP, should I use heartbeat+pacemaker?
Or is there something more "lightweight"?
Basically, I just need server2 up the VIP when server1 is down, and server2 down the VIP when server1 is back up (or server 1 does not up

HA firewall with tinc
This is a vpn for Disater Recovery sites, so it is not necessary to have a seamless failover, strictly speaking. Encryption instead is mandatory.
Testing we found that on Keepalived failover remote Tinc take few seconds to reset the connection and correctly re-connect to the new active firewall (probably new firewall resetting the connection + PingTimeout + some seconds to reconnect).

Samba Read-only redundancy
Hi Everyone,
We are setting up some READ-ONLY Samba servers, mounted from the same
volume on a SAN. The files are media files to be played out by
Windows Media Servers mounted on Win2003.
Here are my thoughts about possible configurations, would someone mind
letting me know what would the best option be?
A) DNS Round Robin
Have foo.domain resolve to 10.0.0.1, 10.0.0.2, 10.0.0.3.
10.0.0.1

HA firewall with tinc
This is what I want to avoid :D I want an active Tinc virtual interface active with ip identical of the other firewall, without ip conflict on the same network.
Do you know if Tun type virtual interface on one host can have same ip address of another host in the same network without ip conflict ? ie if a tun virtual interface can work active without transmitting on real network ? or if such a
