Best External PRI Gateway?
I'm currently looking to interconnect my Asterisk PBX system with the PSTN
via a digital PRI/T1.
I know a multitude of options exist for internal PCI cards
(Digium/Sangoma/Rhino), I was wondering if anyone has any experience or
recommendations of external PRI media gateways that support SIP.
So far I've found:

Audiocodes Mediant 2000
MediaTrix 1531

looking for a better ATA
I currently us Linksys/Ciscio, Grandstream and AudioCodes ata's. none of
the three perform well in all enviroments. Between stablity issues, T38 and
DTMF talkoff all three suffer some combination of issues.
I am looking at Patton and Innomedia. Has any one tried either brand and
what is your experience with them. Which would be the base for stability,
audio quality, provisioning, DTMF

Patton smartnode 463x (BRI) 25ms tail echo cancellation
Hi all
We use pci/pci-e BRI cards in our installations. Due to echo problems
(that was before Oslec and others), we quickly switched to cards with
hardware-based EC.
So we use exclusively Digium B410p cards that provide 64ms tail EC.
For several reasons we'd like to switch to external BRI gateways like
the Patton smartnodes (the price is getting really close to a B410p).

How to configure NT/ptmp with Dahdi and BRI ? (Olivier)
Hi Olivier
It seems wrong configuration, because according to your mail Asterisk it will be acting as terminal mode (ie Patton gateway acting as network and asterisk as terminal).
But Asterisk message is indicated Asterisk a s a NT mode [ 212.226050] wctdm24xxp 0000:0a:01.0: xhfc: Configuring port 0 span 1 in

Best ISDN BRI solutions?
Hi all,
For a while now I've been using Asterisk together with HFC-PCI cards
(Cologne chipset) for Euro-ISDN BRI support. However, I do not
consider this to be the most reliable solution and believe that the
most stubborn problems have always been software related.
If my clients are willing to spend a bit more money on different
hardware, what do you think the best solution would be?

Gateway E1 <=> Asterisk ?
Hi
i want change my asterisk server. Actually, Asterisk work's on a IBM
Server with a internal digium E1 card.
For High availability, i don't want now use "internal E1" card.
In my new asterisk systems, i have two server and two E1 not in the same site.
I am search a hardware gateway, if possible in 1U Rack with 2/4 or 8
E1 capacity with echo cancellation.
I want that this

standalone PRI-to-SIP converter
I'm looking for recommendations for standalond PRI to SIP converters. (Needs to be outside the asterisk box - so a PCIe card won't do)
I've used redfone but this project doesn't need the redundancy features...
Thanks!

OT - Do analog gateways detect a phone is plugged in or out ?
Hi,
I've got a general question about analog gateways (Xorcom, Audiocodes,
Patton, ...) .
Is it usual for analog gateways to detect when an analog phone is plugged in
or out ?
If positive, would it be then useful to send "qualify" queries for each
connect phone (I'm implying here that an analog gateway would then reply
appropriately for qualify query.

Media gateways and video
Hi,
Asterisk now supports h234m.
Does anyone know a Media gateway such as those of Mediatrix, Patton,
Audiocodes, Cisco that also supports h324m flows ?
Prospective setup would be:
ISDN --<PRI>-- Media gateway --<SIP> -- Asterisk ---<SIP> --- Videosoftphone

Asterisk and Patton
Hi,
we have and Asterisk server connected to a Patton Smartnode 4638 with
4 BRI.
We configured 4 SIP account on Patton (1001, 1002, 1003, 1004).
The system is fully functional, but we have a problem to recognize
incoming calls from Asterisk: when a call come from SIP/1001 (BRI 1 on
Patton) or SIP/1002 (BRI 2) or SIP/1003 (BRI 3) Asterisk record a call
coming from SIP/1004.
I have contacted Patton

Re: Echo and other reasons to migrate to BRI from POTS? Was (Echo on PRI/BRI?)
Paul,
Ah, I see. Our echo is largly under control now. It took me a while to
figure out the gains and get them tuned, and now the echo only leaves very
small artifacts. Nonetheless, this still provokes the odd complaint here and
there. We use VOIP for outgoing calls when our POTS lines are congested, and
we find zero echo during those calls. Therefore, I assume that our handsets

Configuring Patton SmartNode with ISDN2e and Asterisk
Hello
Does anyone have any experience with configuring BT (British Telecom)
ISDN2e lines to work with Patton SmartNodes - and then Asterisk?
I have a Patton SmartNode 4638, which is now connected to 3 x ISDN2e
lines - and in turn connected to our internal LAN. I'm having huge
issues configuring the SmartNode to successfully "see" the ISDN channels
- and to be honest, I'm

telco access ?s -- PRI, T1, POTS?
Hi guys,
I'm new to the telco game and still pretty new to Asterisk, although
I've been using it for a couple of months now and like most of what I
see. At my office, we've got a small two extension setup w/ two Digium
cards for a single FXO line and three FXS extensions, but I'm also
working on designing a larger installation for a customer which will
involve ~16 analog

ISDN BRI (I.430) over ethernet
Does anyone know of a hardware adapter that can take ISDN BRI frames
(I.430) and encapsulate them in Ethernet (any form, but TDMoE would be
really cool), in much the same way that the redfone does for PRI?
(yes I have asked this before in looser terms, but it was a while ago :)
Would anyone find such a device useful?
Thanks

Patton 1400
I have a patton 1400 setup to handle the bri interface. As a trixbox
user, I wanted a sip trunk rather than having to re-compile bri support
into trixbix.
Anyway, I have it working now so that asterisk can make calls and they
are passed properly to the telephone network. Incoming calls however are
another matter. I have (after turning on cli debug in the 1400)
determined that its getting stuck

pci cards VS patton
Hi all,
I've been using telephone cards for 4-5 years and now I'm considering
the Patton gateways. What are the pro and cons of Patton stuff compared
to internal cards in a production system? Someone say external gateway
are better because has no echo but have a longer delay when placing calls.
Any suggestion appreciated.
Thank you!

patton smartnode integration
Any have any success using a patton smartnode 4118/js/eiu fxs gateway
with asterisk? We we're able to get the unit to register with
asterisk, but when trying to place a call, no codec was compatible,
even though I had all of the following enabled on the patton ...
# G.711 A-Law/?-Law (64kbps)
# G.726 (ADPCM 40, 32, 24, 16 kpbs)
# G.723.1 (5.3 or 6.3 kbps)
# G.729ab (8kbps)

B410P and Patton smartnode : any success ?
Hi,
1. Has someone met any success at all, connecting a Digium B410P to a Patton
Smartnode 4638 (with latest 5.3 firmware) ?
2. If positive, then, which signalling was used on both sides ?
My project's goal is use a Patton Smartnode 4638 to act as telco BRI lines,
from a B410P-enabled asterisk box.
In my testings, I can see channel is respectively up (with patton web server
status page)

Hi,
Sorry for maybe not a very list related topic, but I have always been curious if there is information on how many Asterisk based PBXs are operating Worldwide?
