Asterisk load balancing and failover
Hi List,
I'm finding a solution to provide failover and load balancing features to my IVR system.
Anyone suggest me what is the best solution please?. what the hardware I should use ?.
I heard about RedFone, but someone on the mail list said that it is not good because TDMoE module in asterisk is not so stable and TDMoE is stale. And It seems that RedFone doesn't not support load

GSM and SS7 Questions
I have two questions for the group.
#1 - I'm looking to use some GSM SIM cards with my Asterisk PBX. Can
anyone recommend a gateway? I need about 10-15 SIM slots.
#2 - I'm also looking to connect Asterisk to an SS7 signaled DS1 (24
channels) for inbound and outbound voice calls. Can anyone offer any
suggestions for cards to use there?

Incoming calls through SS7 for data modem transmissions - possible??
Hello,
We are working on implementing a solution for a medium service provider.
They were previously using a Cisco AS5300 gateway with some PRI trunks to
receive modem calls, then route them out the Internet.
The Telco they were buying the trunks to discovered this configuration and
restricted them due to legal conventions, and stated that in order to
continue doing this, they would have to talk

Astersik can not detect DTMF key
Hi all,
I'm building a karaoke service. Asterisk will play a music file, people can detect the point when they want to sing and record by press * key during the music is playing, and press # key to stop recording.
I use 2 functions: ast_streamfile and ast_seekstream to play audio file, and function ast_waitstream_fr to detect whenever people press DTMF key.
The problems is that, Asterisk

OT - Number Portability
Sorry for the off-topic, but perhaps this will be of interest to other
asterisk based ITSPs.
We are starting service in a rural area where the ILEC has the rural
"monopoly". From what we have read in the FCC docs this does NOT exempt
them from number portability, but what does it take for us to qualify to
receive their numbers? To date we simply have a few voice trunks to them,

Re: [Asterisk-ss7] Asterisk - ss7
I thought everyone should know this.
Jorge, After reading your page in the
http://voip-info.org/tiki-index.php?page=Asterisk+SS7
please advise Your U.S. customers that SS7 is not done the same way as
in the rest of the world and the requirements are different. The U.S
carrier's require 2 redundant links. I know this first hand because we
run an SS7 network.

Re: [Asterisk-biz] SS7 and Asterisk solution
When are 'we' going to have this solution Steve? :) You keep talking
about it, and we keep asking when it's going to come about.
I know myself, SS7 will be a make or break for our continued use of
Asterisk. Even if we had some price indications would be good, and/or a
timeframe?
Don't want to seem pushy, but it's been on the cards for quite some time
now.

Get SS7 Hangup Code as Asterisk variable.
I'm making outbound calls by placing call files in the asterisk outgoing
directory. At times, the call would be hung by SS7 without even
attempting (due to error in the outgoing number). I get the following on
console:
-- Attempting call on ss7/9297210213 for s at croom:1 (Retry 1)
-- Sent IAM CIC=22 ANI=9134904821 DNI=9297210213 RNI=
-- SS7 hangup 'SS7/callserver/22'

AS5400 E1 SS7
Hi,
Would just like to inquire if anyone here has a setup of asterisk to send traffic to AS5400 connected to an SS7-PRI.? this is more of a AS54 question, as i've been reading and i always stumble upon PGW2200 as a requirement to handle SS7 signaling on the AS54. Has anyone able to send calls from asterisk to an as 54 with SS7-PRI without PGW2200?
TIA

SS7 E1 cards
Hi,
I'm looking into support for SS7 and I found an article
(http://www.openss7.com/news13022002.html) which says that OpenSS7
supports Linux Support Inc's T400P-SS7 Quad T1 and E400P-SS7 Quad E1 PCI
interface cards. It also says that Linux Support Inc is the primary
sponsor of Asterisk. However I cannot find these cards on the Asterisk
hardware page

SS7
Hi,
Does Asterisk support SS7?
Google shows an old new post from Feb. 2002 stating that OpenSS7 would help
add SS7 support to Asterisk, but presently OpenSS7 seems to be dead and I
can't seem to find anything about it at Asterisk or Digium's sites. What
happened?

SS7 over Asterisk ?
Hello..
I have a customer who wants to connect 2 PBX's over IP..
The setup should look like this:
[PBX] <-- SS7 --> [Asterisk] <-- IAX --> [Asterisk] <-- SS7 --> [PBX]
Since there are no SS7 cards , I was thinking at a way of carrying the E1 data as bulk...Can I do that ? How ?
Is possible a scenario like this ? I'm thinking of IAX because I don't

SS7 status report 2
Hi,
there are still some questions to be answered by OpenSS7.com
in order to decide, whether E400P-SS7 is a good choice for
the asterisk SS7 support.
In the meanwhile I'm also in negotiations with another
manufacturer (whose name I currently may not tell due to
a NDA) of SS7 hardware, who gets likely persuaded to offer
a cheap SS7-PCI-card which would be suitable for asterisk.

Re: [Asterisk-biz] SS7 and Asterisk solution
We'd be more than willing to test :) Our PRI provider has been trying to
push us over to SS7 for ages. So we'd be very interested in assisting
you.

SS7 over an FXO interface
Hello,
Is it possible to transfer ss7 signaling over an FXO interface.
I need to setup an ss7 test system composed by two Asterisk based IP-PBX
systems with anlog interfaces only (FXO and FXS). I want to know if it is
possible to connect the two IP-PBX as following:
- FXS interface in PBX1 -----------------> connected to

ISDN/SS7 book?
hi
some time ago, I asked the list of a good book for learning ISDN and
SS7. I don't need to know how to write a channel driver or something; I
just want to know more about the possibilities and what's really sent
back and forth. I was told the book "ISDN and SS7: Architectures for
Digital Signaling Networks" by Uyless Black (ISBN 0132591936) was a
good choice, but this

Cache sound files for faster processing
Dear List,
Are there any way of configuring of Asterisk so it'll cache sound files in memory, and when Asterisk receive a call, instead of loading sound files from the disk, it will load from the memory and so Asterisk can process much more call at a time than with faster speed it is not caching.
Thanks,
