Virtual Asterisk Installation
Hi all!
I've been reading this list for a few weeks and now this is my first
post. :-)
I'm planning to build a new VoIP telephone system at our company. It's
just a small company with not more than 3-4 employees.
The telephone system is not so important for us because each employee
has it's own mobile phone.
Because our company is a small one, we don't want to/we

Voicemail feature: enable or disable the ability to leave a message
Hi,
I think there is an essential option of the Voicemail application that
is missing.
I would like to suggest the implementation of a function to give the
user the ability to either allow or disallow the recording of messages.
If the ability to record a message is disabled, options u, s, and b must
not be considered in order to avoid the playback of messages such as

transfers only work when voicemail enabled
Hi all,
when enabling blind and attended transfers in features.conf, these only seem
to work when I enable voicemail for a particular user. How can this be? Can I
have transferrring without voicemail?
Using Asterisk 1.4 by the way.
Thank you!

Per user voicemail greeting
I'm struggle to answer a simple question. One user at extension 4000
wants a custom .gsm file to play for their mailbox. I can't figure where
to put it/what to set in voicemail.conf to achieve this:
voicemail.conf
4000 => 4000,system,voicemail at ....net
Relevant extensions.conf line:
exten => 2,n,VoiceMail(4000 at voicemail)
It all works fine, playing the system VM greating, but

Voicemail gain option NOT working in 1.4.11?
Hi Everyone,
I cannot seem to get the voicemail gain option g(#) work in Asterisk
1.4.11. I am using it like so...
Voicemail(4444 at mycontext,bg(10)) ; for busy announce and 10dB record gain
This has absolutely NO affect on the resulting voicemail wav file.
I have also tried using "format=wav" instead of wav49 in
voicemail.conf to increase the volume as well. This also has no affect

Voicemail vm-intro played even when temp greeting is setup
Hi there,
I am configuring a small voicemail server and I am facing the following
problem.
Executing this command: exten => 1234,1,VoiceMail(${NUMBER}@test)
When a user does not have a customized temporary greeting vm-intro message
is played asking for the message to the user but when the user has already a
temporary greeting both the temporary greeting and vm-intro are played.

Comedian Voicemail Issues
Hello,
I have set up Comedian Mail on my Asterisk system.
I am using Voicemail not Voicemail2 in my extensions.conf file.
The system works great except for 1 thing...It is not possible to create
custom unavailable or greeting messages for 3/4 voicemail boxes.
For some odd reason 3/4 users are unable to modify the default voicemail
prompt with their own custom greeting. The greeting gets

IMAP Voicemail -- HELP! Asterisk not playing Greeting!
I'm using Asterisk 1.4.13, the latest released version. The linux platform
is FC7.
I setup my Asterisk server to use IMAP storage. Dovecot is the IMAP
server. Its storing messages perfectly--no problems.
I should also mention that I'm using MySQL for real-time configuration.
That must be working (at least partially), because I can authenticate v.
the voicemail table.
However, the

priority "a" in macro to access voicemail
I have added the following to a macro that is used for all extensions so
a user can access voicemailmain by pressing * during the voicemail
prompt
; check voicemail
exten => a,1,voicemailmain(${macro_exten})
exten => a,2,hangup
The behavior is a little weird, the * key is not recognized during the
portion of the greeting where the extension number is being played back,
after it is

How to get asterisk to playback personal greetings using grandstream gxp-2000
All:
I am using the standard voicemail in asterisk. Everything works well,
except, if a users wants to record their own personal greeting, it
doesn't playback.
I can see the soundfile being created. I suspect it is a setting in the
voicemail.conf, or an option I am over-looking on the grandstream, but
if anyone can point me in the write direction, I would certainly
appreciate the help.

Voicemail greeting playback issues?
Hey all
I have been beating on this all weekend long.
Any feed back would be appreciated.
We stood up a 11.6 system. We tested everything we could think of.
We moved over to it and all seemed to be working good than a customer told
us that they were not hearing our vociemail greetings.
When we call into the system and it drops to voicemail we just get a beep
no greeting played. We checked

VoiceMail Access
I was looking at the ILECs' web sites to determine how their users access
voicemail.
I looked at AT&T, Verizon, Qwest, and Embarq.
They supported one or a combination of the following for calling from your
phone:
*98
#55
Toll free number
Your number
A varying phone number, based on your number's location.
Calling from anywhere else, they supported:

Dialing dead SIP peers give misleading (BUSY) voicemail result ...
Folks,
We have several people using SIP softphones in the office. When they leave
for the day, they power down their workstations, causing their registration
with Asterix to quickly timeout.
Here's the entry for one such extension in extensions.conf:
exten => 8102,1,Dial(SIP/someone,20)
exten => 8102,2,Voicemail(u8102)
exten => 8102,3,Hangup
exten => 8102,102,Voicemail(b8102)

Voicemail - direct call
Hi list!
How to send a call directly to voicemail recording?
When I put this
exten => 313,n,VoiceMail,u221
Or this
exten => 313,n,VoiceMail,b221
In my dial plan, calling person first hears greeting message (busy or unviable). I would like to avoid greeting message (I would play something with Playback application). Is it possible?

Getting the groupmean for each person
Hello list !
I have a huge data.frame with several variables observed on about 3000
persons. For every person (row) there is variable called GROUP which indices
the group the person belongs to. There is also another variable AV for each
person. Now i want to create a new variable which holds the group mean of AV
as a value for each person.
With tapply(AV,GROUP,mean) i get the means for each

pulling my hair out over voicemail
Ok, I have spent all night trying to figure this out, and hopefully
somebody has a similar experience.
I have a very basic asterisk config. Sample configs, with the only
addition being by SIP phone, and my incoming voip. Last week I got
everything setup, calls were working, etc.,.
I cam across a tutorial for voicemail, followed it, and it worked. When
I call my phone and dont answer, it goes

Passing inormation from pass to lowering
Hi Sam,
I think an intrinsic would be ideal, but I couldn't figure out how to replace calls with an arbitrary number of arguments with a call to an intrinsic. In particular, I would like to call a trampoline instead of the original function. The trampoline performs certain actions and then jumps to the original callee. Would I have to call the intrinsic with the original arguments and then

music on hold realtime
Hi,
Is it possible to use realtime for Music On Hold?
Is it also possible to store the music/audio files on the database, same
way a voicemail can be stored on the database?
Thank You

voicemail check for busy message
Is there a way to check to see if a user has recorded a busy message? If
they haven't I would prefer to send them to "u" and play their unavailable
greeting. I know I can send them to "u" in both cases, but I would like to
send them to "b" if a recorded busy greeting exists.
Thanks!
