Bridging on the blink with greater than 2 xen domains
Hi,
My bridging stops when I start a third Xen domain !?!?
I have a few domains setup (mail, wiki, pbx). If I start two domains
bridge networking works great. But if I start a third, either the new
domains does not work or one of the other DomUs stops working! By
stop working I mean I can''t route traffic outside of Dom0. I have
been looking at this on and off for a couple of weeks.

virtual routing issue
A most puzzling network conundrum has arisen while I was attempting to
create a virtual network behind a virtual router which in turn connects the
virtual network to my real network.
My machine (192.168.103.23) is on the network with my router
(192.168.103.1). The virtual router, tiara, has to connect my
192.168.103.* network with the virtual 10.0.0.* network which comprises two

Re: What's the best way to make use of VLAN interfaces with VMs?
Even more puzzling, I reverted back to the old configuration to confirm
what I had seen and found that it works in one direction but not the
other: i.e. from 192.168.0.110 to 192.168.0.120, but not the other way
around.
Must be something with my configuration....which I can follow up on.
So, thanks again for your help.

Correct latency values in "sip show peers"
I was wondering if anyone knows how accurate the values are when you do a
"sip show peers" from the CLI.
My configuration is:
Asterisk box (192.168.1.102) -> gigabit switch <- PC running x-lite
(192.168.1.100)
the CLI reports 101 ms delay
however, ping is showing <1ms delay
Where is the extra 100ms coming from? The softphone response?
Here is a dump of some data:

I made the change and I can now ping across both bridges: br1
(192.168.0.0/24) and br1600 (192.168.1.0/24):

Ping dom0 <-> domU result in "Destination host unreachable"
Hi folks,
I read quite some posts about "Destination host unreachable" problems
before, but none could help me to solve my issue. So here we go:
This is what I am using:

Network configuration of my dom0:

File sharing and subnets
Hello,
i'm trying to setup a samba file server, but i need your advices.
the goal of my setup is to share a folder from a linux server to windows
clients (for the moment i do my tests using smbclient on linux hosts).
The server and the client are on different subnets, but they can ping
themselves.
Samba is installed on the server (192.168.0.1/24), and smbclient is

Hi Laine
What you have suggested sounds eminently reasonable. Thanks for your
advice. I'm going to give it a shot and report back.

formula for degrees of freedom for nonlinear mixed model in nlme
Dear forum members,

What is the formula to calculate denominator degrees of freedom (den df) for nonlinear mixed-effect models with covariates? My model is similar to a CO2 uptake example from Pinheiro and Bates (2000, page 376). In this CO2 dataset, there are two treatments and two types (84 observations in total), but den df for each parameter of the model is 64. Isn’t it too high?

Qos, HFSC and VoIP
Hello,
I''m using Linux kernel 2.6.x and tc (from iproute2 package).
I''m trying to use HTB or HFSC scheduler in order to limite the rate of outgoing packets and also in order to minimiez delay for RTP stream.
But I didn''t suceed in having this 2 QoS services working.
I use Iptables in order to classify packets. Here is my HFSC conf.
In fact the pings that i send from

Networking issue (after latest 5.1 update?)
I'm not *entirely* sure but this began happening at about the time I
installed the latest kernel updates for CentOS 5.1
(kernel-2.6.18-53.1.6.el5.i686.rpm from January 24). Shortly before
that I changed the encryption on my wireless router and switched from
ndiswrapper back to the standard bcm43xx driver, but I'm pretty sure
the network was OK before that update for the simple reason that

x86_64 timer resolution in ping results
Hi,
There seems to be a problem with the timer resolution on x86_64. This is
clear in ping results - I don't know if it's just a ping problem or if
it manifests elsewhere as well. It does also affect mtr and traceroute
times.
I guess it's more a kernel issue than a CentOS problem, but is anyone
else seeing the same?
Ping results have a resolution of 10ms - so a ping <10ms

Fwd: Traffic Shaping on a Transparent Bridge not working!
I''m trying to shape traffic on a Devil-Linux box.
This note was originally sent to their maillist,
because the LARTC list appears to have been down
for the past few days. My mailbox was just flooded
with a half dozen or so confirmation requests in response
to my repeated attempts to subscribe to this list.

RE: CBQ-wondershaper superior over HTB-wondershaper?
Hello Thilo,
What did you find superior with CBQ-wondershaper over HTB-wondershaper? We have not been using wondershaper specifically but our simple tests so far seem to show that htb is much easier to configure for a given target shape (i.,e accurate) compared to CBQ.
