I'm starting a project to build a MythTV box for my living room. Anyone else currently working with MythTV on CentOS 4? Here are some of the gotcha's I've worked through so far: - I was originally planning on using KnoppMyth. But their CD appears to be only for i386. Without realizing it, the P4 CPU I picked is one of the newer ones with the x86_64 extensions. It won't boot

issue with ivtv & wctdm zaptel drivers (TDM PCI Master abort)
Hi, I'm experiencing an issue with my x86_64 machine containing a Hauppauge PVR-500 (ivtv) and a Digium TDM400p (wctdm, part of zaptel) PCI cards. Independently of each other both cards work fine, but once the wctdm driver is loaded and mythtv tries to record something on the PVR-500 the wctdm driver freaks out. The error message is see is "TDM PCI Master abort" printed over and

Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-350 card on CentOS 4.X?
Anyone have the Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-350 card running on CentOS 4.X? What about MythTV? One of my users asked me today to upgrade the kernel on his CentOS 4.4 system today as he claims that this card will only work on recent kernels (2.6.16 or newer). I haven't found any documentation to support this (the Linux page on the Hauppauge web site is hopelessly out of date; it mentions

mythtv on centos4
Has anyone had any success or failures with installing mythtv onto centos4? Even better, has anyone any prebuilt rpms to do this? Looks to me like centos+mythtv is quite an interesting prospect in the always-on single home server environment. -- Cheers, Tony

Newbie question: X101P card - Asterisk - /dev/dsp0
Hi, I'm new to *. I just installed my X101P card with * from the source on Mandrake 10.0 and I test it. Everything seems to work fine. When I call at my home office all the demo ivr seem to work. But I have one question regarding * using /dev/dsp0. I only have one sound card on my system and it has to be use by my personnal PVR called MythTV. I though that * did not need a sound card to work.

Centos 5.1, mythtv, saa7134_dvb?
I'm trying to set up my Centos 5.1 box at home to run mythtv. The DVB-T card requires saa7134 and saa7134_dvb. These are not in the Centos kernels. Centosplus has saa7134, but not saa7134_dvb. Do I have to compile the kernel myself, or is there a trick? Mogens -- Mogens Kjaer, Carlsberg A/S, Computer Department Gamle Carlsberg Vej 10, DK-2500 Valby, Denmark Phone: +45 33 27 53 25, Fax:

Ok, the script is attached... I'll post it on www.generationd.com when I have a chance. If you have any updates & improvements please email them to me! IVTV and xen: silent intermittent failures reading from /dev/video0
[Disclaimer: I realize that I probably won''t get this problem solved as it''s probably an unsual setup. I thought I''d ask, though.] P roblem: ''cat /dev/video0 > test.mpg'' (a simple IVTV test of my hardware mpeg2 encoder) doesn''t work properly under Xen. When this command is run, test.mpg should grow approximately 1MB/sec in perpetuity, and

CPU soft lockup XEN 4.1rc
Hello, Similar to others I have freezeups on the system, it is consistent with high IO load. If the system runs (even with multiple) XenU it does not happen. But I can consistently force the situation to occur. Running 4 dd processes dumping 20GB each on a LVM/mdadm soft RAID5 volume it consistenly crashes in a DomU. Running without XEN I do not see the problem at all - (e.g. after about 3TB of

NUT stopped working after an upgrade
Nut should be running as user nut. As far as I can tell, the udev rules have not changed. And the system IS seeing the UPS at a low level. I looked through /dev/ but did not see a device that jumps out as the UPS. ===================== [root at mythtv rules.d]# dmesg | grep -i 0764 [ 2.021485] usb 1-1.8: New USB device found, idVendor=0764, idProduct=0501, bcdDevice= 0.01 [ 2.049515]

Check /dev/hidraw6, as noted in your dmesg output (and any other *hid* devices under /dev). User nut has almost zero privs to devices unless a udev rule changes the perms on the dev for nut . . . Did the upgrade by chance install/alter any udev rules causing the UPS devices to now have incorrect permissions? And what user is nut running as?
