PXE-bootable diskless Asterix distro?
Hello Since I got the IBM Netvista to boot Linux, and am still waiting for the Compact Flash cards that I ordered, I was wondering if someone knew of an Asterisk distribution that can run on that kind of diskless host? I've taken a look at AstLinux and AskoziaPBX, but they both seem to be meant to be installed on a solid-state medium instead of RAM. For instance, the Netvista is unable to

Smallest possible Asterisk VM
How small can an Asterisk system be, in terms of disk space utilized? I am looking for just asterisk, with mysql, postgresql, or sqlite, with PHP and Python. After finishing the build and removing the tools, how small can the whole system be? 100Mb, 200Mb? Can packages be used to build the whole system, like using debs and rpms alone? /vfclists

1.6 and asterisk gui
Hello, I'm new to asterisk and this list. The ISO download appears to have 1.6 with the FreePBX GUI but I am looking to use the Asterisk GUI. The only option for the Asterisk GUI is to use 1.4. Is it as simple as installing 1.6 only then using the yum repository to install the Asterisk GUI? If so, what packages are needed? Thanks!

New Embedded Distro
Hi All, A couple of weeks ago I noticed Askozia PBX, which is a new embedded Asterisk & OS distro at http://askozia.com/pbx. This caught my attention for two reasons; it uses v1.4 of Asterisk, and it uses the m0n0wall development framework to build on FreeBSD with a PHP based GUI. I've used m0n0wall for years, and FreeNAS also, which shares the same OS/GUI framework. I booted the latest

Asterisk on IBM Netvista 2800 8364-EXX?
Hello I'm looking at my options to build a compact, silent, headless Asterisk server to handle one or two FXO ports. Out of curiosity, I got one of those babies on eBay for 20E: http://silicon-verl.de/home/flo/software/netstation-8364/ Before I spend time on this, can someone tell me if... 1. it's easy to install Linux on those things (am willing to add a CF-to-IDE adapter to use a

Any good guides for installing Asterisk on Embedded systems like Alix boards?

*.conf utilities for Asterisk
Hi all, I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for *.conf generators for Asterisk. Creating *.conf files manually for Asterisk requires too much effort for what I do other than minor tweaking. I run Asterisk as a network appliance (Astlinux on CF) so something like FreePBX that needs to run on the Asterisk server itself is not an option. I have been using IPmanager up until now

To use asterisk or proprietary hardware, that is the question
Hi there, Here is my dilema. I have a new small business customer that wants me to put in a VoIP phone system for them. Based on their requirements, I have determined that it needs to be a "set it and forget it" type of thing like a lot of small business proprietary systems. At the same time they would like to be able to do minor dial plan changes themselves so I have determine

How hard to create Asterisk for Compact Flash?
I am aware of Astlinux and the other embedded Asterisk solutions out there? Astlinux is nice but the problem is that when I hit a snag and need to incorporate a patch and what not I cannot do that with Astlinux because I cannot compile my own version. How hard is it to create my own version of Linux/Asterisk to run on Compact Flash. I have seen 1GB Sandisk CF for as low as $50 recently so small

OT: Polycom BootRom 3.1.3 and vsftpd 2.0.3 WARNING!!!
Hello everyone, Please forgive the exclamation points but I have been battling this one off and on for about four days now. Sorry for the cross post. It all started with a box of IP 501s. I contacted my reseller and obtained the latest BootRom and SIP firmware. Unzipped, configured, copied over to my FTP server (running AstLinux, of course). The phone booted, so far so good. Updated

OT: Asterisk and Mambo - help wanted
Hello everyone, So, this isn't exactly what it seems. I am not looking to integrate Asterisk and Mambo. I am the maintainer/creator of AstLinux, and I have recently decided that I should really have a better web site for it. I would like to use Mambo so that I can do updates easily, from anywhere, without having to waste time learning PHP/HTML/etc. Mambo CMS seems the best and most

Best Asterisk Platform
What is the best asterisk platform to use? What are you guys using? I am looking for something to host either in our data center or at the customer prem where I have the control over the unit and not through a contractor. I dont mind paying a license fee for a front end interface but still would rather not have to pay. Thanks, --Eric -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment
