What Windows apps stand in the way of switching to Linux at your shop?
http://kegel.com/wine/qa/#app is a list of "must-have" Windows applications for various vertical markets (at the moment, just k12 schools and churches). These are the Windows apps that really keep a school, church, or other organization from switching to Linux. I'm hoping that this list will help focus Wine QA on those key Windows apps, and thereby increase the number of groups who

Re: Sum-up: Re-proposal: web forums
Hello, I have noted below problems that we can take care of, and those that aren't our problem, never were, never will be, impossible to be our problem, (you get the picture), because they are PEBKAC errors :) For all of those that don't know: PEBKAC = Problem Exists Between Keyboard and Chair. 0.9.49's libwine "fix" broke my "system wide install" kludge...
Short version: I'd like help in configuring the registry as described in Section 3.2.4 to allow for system wide installs. 0.9.49's libwine 'fix' plugged a security hole I was happily using to achieve the same effective result. Thanks! Eric Long version: I'm using wine to run a copy of Quicken and want a single install of this program to be available to multiple users (i.e.

Wine through SSH for Quicken 2006
I am trying to run Quicken 2006 on Wine through an SSH tunnel. Everything is working fine through logging in and starting, until I click on one of my accounts in Quicken. At that point, Quicken freezes completely. I am running this on a CentOS 6 x86_64 PC. This is the information I get through a terminal window: bash-4.1$ ssh -Y <<user>>@<<server>> env

Quicken 2011 Starter Edition, installs, crashes when run
I have a legal version of Quicken 2011 Starter Edition, and I am trying to install it using Wine on my up to date Linux Mint install (Mint 10 "Julia" based on Ubuntu Maverick) I have tried this a couple of ways: using Wine from the default repos (1.2.10 I think?) as well as wine from the WineHQ site (1.3.11) I have tried this install method:

Incomplete List of Available Printers in Quicken
I am running Quicken Home and Business 2006 on an Intel iMac with OSX (Leopard - 10.5.2) with X11 installed and using Darwine 1.0b (from kronenberg). When I attempt to print anything in Quicken the list of available printers only shows the two physical printers available to the iMac but none of the PDF printers show. When I open Firefox in Darwine it shows a complete list of printers including

Funky Font problems with Quicken 2010
I am using wine 1.3.16 on Mac OX 10.6.7, built and installed using osxwinebuilder. I am using it to run Quicken 2010. Quicken installed and runs fine with one exception: One of the fonts used in Quicken is rendered very poorly. Here is an example: [Image: http://altosdesign.com/bugs/fontissue1.jpg ] Searching for this problem led me to a number of posts that suggested using winecfg to set the

Quicken 2010 QDF file can't be read on windows machine
Hello, I've been running Quicken 2010 under Wine for a while now. It works well, except that various elements redraw themselves over and over again, making it painfully slow to use. Now for completely unrelated reasons I'm forced to run a Windows XP VM on my Linux machine, so I installed Quicken 2010 on the VM as well. When I copied my QDF file over from ~/.wine to the VM, though,

Quicken 2010 Home and Business
I looked at the App Database, and tried to follow the instructions for Quicken2010, which clearly states that the account update was tested. I know this is a newbe question, but Step three is mixing me up $wine your_installer Does this refer to the Quicken installer.exe? if so why do we repeat this step at the end, and if not what does it refer to? Thus far my only issue is that Quicken 2010
