Receptionist GUI?
Hey, all. Just wondering if there's a GUI out there -- preferably OSS, but I'll take what-have-you -- that a) can run on an Ubuntu/Debian box, and b) allows a receptionist to see what calls are in-process, and forward calls from their phone to somewhere else. Thanks! -Ken -- This message has been scanned for viruses and dangerous content by MailScanner, and is believed to be clean.

[OT] Wifi SIP phones - LinkSys WIP330
Hi List, Hope everyone is recovering from the festive season :) (ok we still have new years i guess!) Anyways, I was wondering if anyone has had any successful dealings with WiFi phones and operation with '*' at all? I've been keeping my eye on the LinkSys WIP330 ( http://preview.tinyurl.com/nccxn ) and wondered your collective thoughts? Would I be correct in thinking that (as

DECT Solution
Hello, I need to setup system of aroud 60 DECT phones with asterisk. So far I found http://www.grandstream.com/index.php/products/ip-voice-telephony/enterprise-ip-phones/dp715_710 However is there some cheap base station(similar to GSM cell) so I can handle all DECT phones centralized and plug it inside asterisk ? Thanks, Peter

Protection for removable hard drive
My apologies if this is a bit off topic... I am going to start doing backups to removable hard drives and I will need to send these hard drives to an off-site storage facility. I am looking for some way to protect the drives after I pull them out of the system. I was hoping to find some kind of clamshell enclosure similar to what is used with external hard drives, but so far I haven't found

Polycom Spectralink 8002 Configuration
I have a new Polycom Spectralink 8002 and am having trouble with the configuration or the unit but I can't see what's wrong. The unit does not seem to even attempt to register with the Asterisk proxy but I can make calls to it. I have viewed the syslog from the device which it will actually write to the asterisk server so I know it can be reached. I have also run a sip debug and

Can No Longer Join to Domain
I have Samba 3.0.24 running on CentOS 4 as a PDC with an LDAP backend. When I first set everything up, I could join workstations to the domain automatically with the Windows Network ID Wizard. Now when I try to join a workstation I get: Your computer could not be joined to the domain because the following error has occurred: The user name could not be found. If I add the computer

Enforce Strong Passwords LDAP PDC
I've scoured the mailing list archives and the internet...has anyone actually figured out how to enforce strong passwords when using Samba and LDAP as a PDC? My users are allowed to change their Windows XP passwords, how do I enforce the use of strong passwords (either locally or globally)? -- *Jason Baker */IT Coordinator/ *Glastender Inc.* 5400 North Michigan Road Saginaw, Michigan

SERIOUS PROBLEM - Root Account Locked
My root account keeps getting locked out automatically. I am running Samba 3.0.25b on a CentOS server, as PDC with LDAP backend. I have accounts set to lock after 8 un-successful login attempts. I zeroed out the bad password count, and then in less than a few seconds the account gets locked again and a /pdbedit -Lv -u root /yields the following: Unix username: root Logon time:

sip show channels - gives a growing list of dead channels
I am using Asterisk 1.4.18 with 70 various Polycoms, 12 analog, and 18 Spectralink wireless IP phones. Most of the Spectralink phones have entries in 'sip show channels' that do not go away. None of the other phones do this. Is there anyway to remove these entries without restarting Asterisk? Any ideas on what could be done to prevent this? Example output: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx 541

Any Zaurus users??
Just wondering if there are any Zaurus owners out there using there zaurus as a voip phone?? I'm trying to decide which on to buy. The sl-6000 is perfect for phone use from what I've read, but it's not very pocket friendly (http://www.sharpusa.com/images/hpc_SL6000_pic1.jpg) The clamshell models (http://conics.net/shp/pda/zaurus-sl-c700/sl-c3000.html) are much nicer but would

Recommendations on a WiFi phone for *?
We're getting our feet more and more wet with VOIP at work. We want to experiment with a good wireless (as in WiFi) phone. What would be a good phone to impress my boss with? I'm personally drooling over the UTStarcom F3000, but compatibility and shipping ETA info is a bit sketchy. Phil

Provisioning Linksys WIP330 phones
We're contemplating Linksys WIP 330 phones, but we're concerned about configuration effort. Does anyone have the file format for an XML file to configure this phone? We got auto-provisioning to D/L a file, but the XML file format seems to be a secret... Thanks, Michelle -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

Domain Member Server passdb Migration/Change
Hi, We have a linux/samba only domain serving files to about 16-18 Windows clients (mostly XP, a few W2K). PDC: SuSE OpenXchange 4.4 samba 2.2.8a openldap 2.1.4 Domain Member Server Fedora Core 1 samba 3.0.10 Currently the Domain Member Server uses the default passdb backend (/etc/samba/smbpasswd). Administrator is Root
I just got Samba + LDAP up and running as a PDC. If I list the users in the LDAP directory with pdbedit -L I see: root:0:test nobody:99:nobody aster$:1001:Computer toast$:1002:TOAST$ fordprefect:1003:Test Account Shouldn't there be an Administrator account and no root? I don't want my Linux root account even remotely confused or associated with a Samba/LDAP

Cannot change expired password
I have a samba PDC set up and configured. I have been doing tests and everything was working fine. I was able to set "User must change password" to today's date and it would prompt the user that their password has expired when logging into windows xp. I could then enter a new password and be on my way. Now when I set the password to "User must change password", when I

Strange network file access behavior
I have a Samba PDC and a file server (domain member). They are both running CentOS 4, with Samba3-3.0.24-30 and LDAP 2.3 (on PDC). Domain authentication seems to be running fine and file access on the file server works also. I have one share on the file server that gives me trouble. Whenever I access files from this one directory, the network seems to lock up for close to a minute. I get 64%
